FAC’s Letter to Orange County RE: SORR

In response to yesterday’s news report on the possibility Orange County might be considering expanding their Sex Offender Residency Restriction, FAC has sent a letter to the Mayor of Orange County, all of the County Commissioners and the media.

Wow love this letter. It’s to the point. I feel the mayor will respond.

Thank you SO MUCH. It gives me hope that there are people willing to fight for us when I am too busy just trying to survive that I don’t have the time to do things like that. Also it exposes my family if I go to the media, and I have a child just about to enter high school….ohhh how the teachers and students would have a field day with him if they found out about me from the news. It’s a horrible situation to be in, I feel like my hands are tied everywhere I turn.

But things like this make me say “yessss!!” when no one is looking. 🙂

Thank you for issuing this letter to Mayor Jacobs and the media. Channel 9 and Cox Media Group in particular seem to have a fascination with SORR and the offenders underneath it. They seem to care very little about the fact that many of the individuals that have to register also have their own families, their own children. I would hope Mayor Jacobs and the other county commissioners exercise intelligent restraint if they do go forward with such a restriction. But I am hopeful they will push back and the OCSO will tell them the same – housing is a huge problem for everyone involved.
