Florida boy, 2, dressed as Captain America hit, killed by bus during first Halloween
Perhaps if the Police in Florida were not so busy looking into problems with Sex Offenders on Halloween (which has no greater instance of sexual violence than ANY other day, despite the hysteria), they would have more time to control drivers (which has a much greater instance of death during the holiday).
Please note the last paragraph, “The tragedy was one of several around the country Friday involving youngsters celebrating Halloween. Three teen girls trick-or-treating were hit and killed by an SUV driver who fled the Southern California crash scene. A group in Washington state was critically injured after a car jumped a curb and smashed into the costumed revelers, while a 3-year-old boy was killed in Greece, N.Y., and an Irvine, Calif., man was killed while taking his young son trick-or-treating.” How many reports of sex offenders committing sexual assaults during Halloween were there?
It was his first — and last — time going trick-or-treating.
A Florida toddler dressed as Captain America was hit and killed by a bus as he celebrated Halloween for the first time.
Little Dohntae Vasquez, 2, hopped out of a stroller along busy U.S. 27 in Lake Wales on Friday evening after his chaperone dropped his phone in the road and went back to retrieve it, authorities said.
Dohntae was running towards his grandmother, who had not yet crossed the street, when the bus carrying citrus workers from a nearby town struck and killed the child, police said.
“I came back out and I heard somebody screaming, ‘My baby, my baby,’” a witness, who was shopping nearby and identified herself only as Carole, told WTVT.
The retired nurse could only hold back tears as remembered running towards the crash.

“There was nothing I could do. There was no saving the child,” she told the Fox affiliate.
The driver, 33-year-old Albertina Ramirez, immediately pulled over and told police she never saw the child dart out into the road. No charges are expected in what police called a “terrible tragedy.”
Memorials to the boy, featuring pumpkins, photos and stuffed animals, sprouted up near the crash site as his family and friends were overcome with grief.
“We are supposed to bury our parents first, not our children,” neighbor Mary Brady told WTVT. “We would like you to continue to pray for the family and pray for healing for everyone.”
The tot’s heartbroken mom, Ashley Vasquez, posted memorials to her dead son on Facebook, writing “a part of me has died.”

It was a stark turn from hours earlier, when she’d written “Happy Halloween!” below of festive photo as she prepared for her happy child’s first time collecting candy.
By Monday morning, a Go Fund Me page to help with funeral costs had raised about $1,650.
“Any amount will help so this little boy can receive the celebration of life he deserves and so the family can receive personalized keepsakes from his fingerprints, the only thing they have left of their angel,” the page reads.
Though she did not know the family, Carole promised to keep the boy’s memory alive.
“I’m going to make the baby a cross,” she told WTVT. “At Christmas time I’ll put a wreath out there. It’s just something nobody will forget. I can’t get it out of my head.”
