Florida sex offender entitled to pension, court rules

TAMPA — A former city employee now on probation for having sex with underage girls is entitled to his pension, according to the 2nd District Court of Appeal.

Demetrio Rivera, 71, was released from state prison last year after serving nearly a year behind bars.

He is now serving at least 11 years of supervised release.

Rivera, then an employee of Tampa’s wastewater department, was arrested in 2013 and charged with having sex with four underage girls.
