WAR said we always hear: if just one child can be saved. What about: if just one falsely accused can be saved?

And the registry can be harmful to juvenile offenders, as well as to children of registrants. Do we even have evidence that it’s ever “saved one child”?

The liars will say that it has, of course, and that you can’t prove things that don’t happen. But I think the correct metric is to compare the recidivism rate before the Registry Hit Lists and after. Personally, I don’t think the Hit Lists have protected anyone. At best, they’ll just relocate a crime.

Kind of weird that you said “can be harmful”. That should be “is harmful”. I expect in nearly 100% of cases.

One thing that we do know for certain is that the Hit Lists have harmed millions of children. Would anyone even debate that? I’ve seen a lot of that firsthand. The Hit Lists have been directly responsible for murdering some children. Registry Supporters/Terrorists think that is an acceptable for the Hit Lists, just so they can get off.

I myself live in fear, live in guilt. I have lost so much in 22 years. I lost myself. Too many times, suicide comes into my head, and I have to fight it off. I wake up from Nightmares, and I think about my label everyday. Things have changed in 22 years for me, I used to be able to travel freely and enjoy life, but that has almost stopped, I was married to a foreigner for 8 years, we never got approved for me to be her sponsor, so she had to end our marriage. too many things are now upon me that was not there in 1998. So I get deeper in depression, and stay locked in my home, I hardly go out anymore. I do have a great relationship with a friend in Colombia, she understands my situation, and wants to be with me, but we can never be together as a family. I am not allowed into Colombia, and we could never marry. Because I am seen as a monster, a very bad person who can never be free from the past.

Indeed – we are part of a tiny minority that has been deemed as disposable and are used by the government as an example of what they can do to individuals.

We are given a label of “sex offender” or “sex predator” which they use interchangeably rending them meaningless. This is done to create a generic stereotype of all individuals (regardless of actual crime or risk level) into a faceless group – creating the boogeyman effect.

The boogeyman effect has 2 purposes, the 1st is to utilize fear and specifically innate parental protective response to danger (real or simply perceived) to their child/children. This is emotional manipulation and has nothing to do with actual child safety.

The 2nd purpose is to provide a universally hated group for political and law enforcement to use whipping boys to appear “tough on crime” even though that has been proven to be 100% ineffective (and thus clearly not the real reason). Facts be damned however since we are too valuable of an asset to ever let us go!

They’re out there, you just have to find them. My last church kicked me out of the church when some of the elders found out I was a registered citizen, even though some of the elders and all of the pastors knew. I was devastated.

But I started searching, and I found a church that I really liked. My wife and I made an appointment with the senior pastor. I told him my story and what happened at my last church and then asked him if I would be welcome because I cannot continue going through that. His only response was, “Welcome”. I encourage you to keep looking and I do hope you find a new church.

I object to the self classification “Because, I am sex offender”.

You are NOT a sex offender. You are labeled by a certain group (mainly composed of power hunger sociopaths) as a sex offender but you are only one **if you accept that label!”

I have never said nor will I ever say that I am a sex offender. I will say that I am listed on the Florida sex offender registry but that doesn’t define me at all.

I totally agree, and have expressed that opinion to my federal PO and court mandated counselor. Both looked somewhat confused and bemused when I said I would not accept the present tense label of “being” a sex offender.

I did something wrong and stupid 12 years ago and paid my debt to society. As a 68 year-old former Army officer, electrical engineer and productive citizen with no prior criminal record, I refuse to allow anyone–including myself– to summarize my life or define my future self with that single pejorative term.

      Veritas.

That is actually the point of the post. And indeed, the larger point that the forthcoming law review makes.

Very much agree. I’ve had pigs trying to figure out if I am Registered or not and ask me, “Are you a sex offender?” I typically reply, “I’m not. Are you?”

I’m a person who did whatever decades ago. I fully paid the consequences for that, many times over, in fact. Today, I’m just a Person Forced to Register by illegitimate, immoral, criminal regimes, at the point of their guns and other lethal weapons. I’m moral, they aren’t.
