Have you been the victim of violence or physical threat as a consequence of the registry?

Now that the Ex Post Facto lawsuit is filed, one of our first challenges we will face will likely be the government opposing our motion to proceed anonymously.

We will be preparing declarations in support of that motion and in connection are reaching out to our membership to identify those among us who have been assaulted, harassed, had property vandalized or were otherwise placed in danger because they were outed as a registrant.

Note that the declaration cannot be filed anonymously. You will not be “named” as part of the lawsuit, but the declaration will need to be in your own name.

If anyone can assist in this regard, please reach out to [email protected].

Same as Camille, my son has been harassed in his high school to the point that his mother had to take him out of the traditional high school and have him completing the school online because he was continually bullied, humiliated, harassed, and everything else in between.

Both my car and house were egged a number of years back, but the more damaging stuff was the cyberstalking. I had several people who basically followed me around to any forum, etc where I was trying to do business. They got me kicked off of at least four of five of the and my name is basically mud on the ones where I am still technically a member. They also notified a trade group in Europe of my status and I was “disinvited” from a trade show that I had participated in for like 5 years. One of these people also posted a copy of my FDLE webpage in the bathrooms at the big trade show for my hobby/business in Atlanta back in 2013 and I haven’t been back since. This was after a person, allegedly a former customer who looked me up to make another purchase and saw the registry listing, made a post on the biggest internet forum in 2010 “outing” me and suggesting that people “come by my table and express their displeasure” at me being there. Any of this useful?

NARSOL/NCRSOL just did this last month when seeking such info for the Bethea amicus SCOTUS submission. Upon reading their doc, sounds like it was successful. Maybe they could help get some of the info you seek?

There is an unincorporated area in Palm Beach known as the Acreage. many offenders live here is a result of city ordinances throughout Palm Beach. There is a popular community forum on Facebook called Acreage Speaks. if you get on this page and simply search “offender” you will see that every time someone registers within this area, their FDLE flyer gets posted and a very large comments section gets rolling with all kind of ignorance and threats. if any of that can be useful there is a lot to choose from.

I have no problem doing this; even giving out my name. How much detail, facts, how many incidents do you want?
    How much detail/length?
Is harassment/threats by the police to be included?
How about the police lack of accountability to do anything about situations? (windows being shot out/kids throwing rocks and the police witnessing it and doing nothing?)
    Harassing letters, comments, vandalism?
Where do I send it? How much time do I have to compose this?

More appropriately, I was threatened by officers in the Sheriff’s sex offender unit that they would follow me to find a way to violate me on one of Brevard’s stringent restrictions. Why? Because I explained parts of the state law they happened to be violating with me in regard to working as an over the road truck driver.

Thus is why we would need anonymity, fear of retribution by law enforcement.

my son was harrased and bullied by a student in middle school, because his father was on the registry, does that count.
We also had somebody call into my husband’s work at Texas Roadhouse and claim that his charges were a felony (they weren’t) and he was fired anyway.
And we had our van vandalized (but not sure that it was related) just seemed suspicious

Note – even if you have no permanent address, you remain required to register as transient, re-register monthly and get a drivers license or ID that reflects your address as transient. This is part of the registration statute.

FAC perhaps currently but not 10 years ago! if i was in the wrong there’s no way state would have dropped charges twice and cop was put on notice
