Help Keep the Momentum Going!
Several years ago, FAC launched a petition on Change.org urging the United Nations to recognize public sex offender registration as a violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Since then, more than 8,000 individuals have signed on, many bravely sharing their personal experiences with the registry. We’re deeply grateful for those who have spoken out and taken a stand on what remains a deeply polarizing issue.
Thanks to your voices, this petition has helped bring awareness to the human rights implications of public registries—not just nationally, but globally. While the pace of new signatures has slowed over time, we continue to see new support every week, and each new name reminds us that this cause still resonates.

The intent isn’t protection, it’s funding. They need to stir people into a frenzy that kids are being abused left and right day and night. Until the funding stops and the free tax payer ride ends they will gladly keep up the propagandizing and fear mongering.
And the people feed into it, hook line and sinker. They know what they’re doing and couldn’t care less that it’s destroying lives and resulting in a severely skewed justice system. Senocratz republican it doesn’t matter. Frankly, they will play whichever fiddle as long as the Machine keeps rolling
The US dropped out of this declaration and does not belong or represent this committee anymore. What good is the petition going to do if the US does not recognize this committee or belong to it?
The UN International Bill of Rights and other international law recognize that sex offenders, like all individuals, retain fundamental human rights, including the right to be treated with dignity and not subjected to cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment. International covenants, such as the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, emphasize that correctional systems should focus on reform and social rehabilitation rather than solely on punishment for all offenders, including those who have committed sexual offenses.
Totally agree 💯
UN doesn’t officially “recognize” sex registries as a unified global system, it acknowledges and addresses the complexities surrounding them, particularly concerning human rights and child protection concerns. The UN’s position reflects a challenge of balancing the need to protect the public, particularly children, from sex offenders with the obligation to uphold the human rights of all individuals
Mrs. Dashka,
There is absolutely a need to protect children from sexual harm and the registry absolutely does not do that.
