How can you file a UN Human Rights Complaint

After reading that FAC filed a human rights complaint with the United Nations concerning the inhumane treatment of registrants in our cities, counties, states and by the federal government on behalf of all our members, one of our members was inspired and filed a complaint on his own behalf to support and supplement ours.

The member was gracious enough to document the steps he went through to file the complaint and share it with other members who want to do the same. The steps are below. (Special thanks to DS for sharing the information)

1. I went to;  http://www.ohchr.org/EN/Pages/WelcomePage.aspx

2. Browsed around the site and read the actual charter (Treaty); http://www.ohchr.org/Documents/Publications/FactSheet2Rev.1en.pdf

3. Copied Article 3 in it’s entirety into “clipboard” pasted it on a document and started picking it apart piece by piece finding all the things we know that we are being violated by our Government  – Federal, State and Local.

4.  Composed my letter using Article 3 for reference.

5. Went to the contact page: http://www.ohchr.org/EN/AboutUs/Pages/ContactUs.aspx found the email address for their Civil Society section [email protected]

6. Emailed the letter.  I pasted it into an email – I would not send it as a word doc as some agency servers will reject it because of the security threat.  If you need to transmit it due to size, security etc, I would suggest that you make prior arraignments and convert to PDF which most servers will allow.

7. Finally send one copy via the postal service IE; “snail mail” –

Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR)
Palais des Nations
CH-1211 Geneva 10, Switzerland
