IML CALL TO ACTION: 5 things you should be doing.

The International Megan’s Law has been the primary focus of most of our posts over the last week, because of it’s significance. Never before has the US branded the travel documents of its citizens and the only times before in the history of the World where this has happened, has been Nazi Germany and the former Soviet Union.

Read previous posts to learn more about the bill. This post will focus on what can still be done.

The bill is awaiting President Obama’s signature for it to become law.

We should be contacting the White House feverishly trying to get this bill vetoed.

Here are five things we should all be doing:

1) Josh Gravens from Organize Justice has posted this:

We may still have the chance to stop this piece of legislation. I know this HR 515 passing congress hit everyone hard, but we cannot stop fighting.

I am asking you to send a note directly to the president asking him to use his veto powers. We need everyone to send a note. Make sure to remain respectful, tell a personal story, but keep it short and sweet.

3) David Kennerly put together instructions for a twitter campaign:

Place @potus within the text body of the message, which may be something like “VETO H.R. 515 @POTUS @WHOEVER ELSE, SUCH AS MEDIA,  ETC., WHITE HOUSE STAFF [LIST INCLUDED, BELOW]” and send it off. Each time it gets re-tweeted by someone else, Obama will get another Tweet with this graphic.
