In Person Registration Challenge: Plaintiffs Wanted

Preparation for the in-person registration challenge is well underway.

This challenge will address the multiple occasions where a person required to register MUST report IN PERSON to the Sheriff’s office or Driver’s License office to report things like vacations, business trips or of a roommate gets a new car.

These additional in person reporting requirements (in addition to the 2 or 4 times one must already report in person for re-registration) are unnecessary. The same information can be taken online, in writing or over the phone without the necessity of going to the one registration location in the county (which might be miles away), at inconvenient times (most are not open 7 days a week or after work hours), only to wait in long lines or have to pay a fee for the privilege of doing this.

We are looking for potential plaintiffs for our lawsuit. If you are significantly impacted by the in-person reporting requirements and would like to be an important part of this challenge, please contact [email protected].

Im a mechanic and i manage the rental house my parents own and am responsible for getting new tenants when one leaves. So every time a new tenant moves in i have to report to the sheriffs office with all their vehicle information, which is absurd that i have to give information on someone not related to me to the sheriffs office. Also im buying my wife a car this weekend, so im going to have to go and register that car with them. The point of me saying im a mechanic, is i frequently have multiple vehicles at my property and drive multiple vehicles. I have to go every time i put one in my name. This ends up turning ny twice a year reporting into having to drive 30 mins to the reporting office anywhere from 6-10 times a year, if not more. Not to mention i just wont travel anywhere for more than 2 days because i dont wanna have to go and report it and do all the bullshit with my license and everything, so vacations with my wife have to be short and sweet and local.

Question: Why would a lawyer have to file a motion to keep a lie detector test out of court/trial? I thought lie detector tests were not allowed in any courts.
    Our case is in Texas.
The lie detector test and interview video of this would actually help our case because it shows the police’s desperate attempt to make him guilty. It’s pretty darn bad!! I’m convinced this officer may very well be an actual psychopath. Any normal person who watches this video would clearly see what I’m talking about.
I’m thinking the lawyer is desperately trying to keep this out because he knows I have made a huge deal about it and have even mentioned bringing it up in court, even though he has made it very clear for us not to talk about it because “We can’t disrespect the police.” We have seen other very clear indications that criminal defense attorneys in Midland, TX cover up for police corruption. We’re on our third attorney now.
It’s very clear they don’t want the jurors to know about this corruption and much less see the evidence of it.

Is it normal to file a motion to keep a lie detector test out of court?
(A “pretend” lie detector test, that is)

Was it Federal court or State ? I know most if not all Federal courts will find them inadmissible. There are cases after cases of Federal courts doing so. I researched this about 9 years ago when I was trying to get off probation and the polygraph people were giving me problems. States courts might be different. Texas, the state you mention and I would assume the judge assigned.

how about i just got a used vehicle and had to report that then the motor went bad and the dealer gave me a loaner on Friday and to meet the 48 hour time limit i had to hurry and get to the SO office to add a vehicle. when i called FDLE about this 48 hour rule i was told take it up with SO office. that create these laws that are impossible to follow

I believe that those of us that own our own homes and have no intention to move should be able to do these things on-line. I know that there are unfortunate people out there that have no homes and my heart goes out to them.
Just like the visits to our homes twice a year. What is the sense of that since we are not going anywhere. It is a waste of time for the sheriffs office and money.

      Could it be employment justification?

I have to go register twice a year with the “county” sheriff like any other registered citizen and on top of that I have to go 4 times a year to the ” city ” police department where I reside, and take a photo with them of me and my license. That is 6 times in a year. Been living in the same place for 20+ years even before my only single arrest/conviction(10 year old case) and without any incidents here. They still ask me the same question 6 times a year: You still live here? You still live here ? You still live here ? You still live here ? Geez! Overkill much ?

Since I have been off of probation only since September 2018 I have not had the opportunity to exercise the in-person reporting requirement all that much. The one time since my release was when I went to my Naval Academy reunion. I was required to come in within 48 hours…two sheriff’s working days… of my departure and ‘re-register’ for travel. My return was on a Wednesday and all I had to do was call in and report my return. This was in Brevard County.

Your not required to notify the sheriff if your not moving !! Your ALLOWED to travel anywhere in n the USA without notifying “Law Enforcement” UNLESS you will be staying in ONE PLACE over that states Time limit !!. I travel a good bit, And had this argument with my Sheriff’s Office !! Well it’s been almost 3 years of me traveling without notifying them, And no Issues !!. Not to say they won’t be dirty and find a way to Arrest me !!. But I’ve made it very clear to them that I will NEVER notify them unless I plan on moving !!.

I would very much like too be apart of this sue… However, I’m located in Memphis Tn. and I’m suffering the same conditions and more … I’ve been trying to relocate to your area and still plan too once i can get some assistance in making my transition. I’m not an attorney BUT I’m somewhat a legal-mind that the courts DON’T want to deal with since GOD has given some insight and knowledge of what they are doing ILLEGALLY and UNCONSTITUTIONALLY…. Anyway, I’m homeless right now and seeking assistance , but I’m only receiving lip service , so I’m strivibg to relocate ….

Get out of Florida when you have the chance I left that Cesspool State moved to Arizona. I report to DMV once a year or if I moved then pay 10.00 for driver licences. I go the Maricopa Courthouse to register no fee.. take the up to date address from Courthouse to D.M.V. Let them scan the paper make sure you get a receipt showing you paid. So if Cops take your ID and try to lie saying you have no id or failed to register you have proof you complied. I don’t have the 1000 foot law because I am not predator The Cons of living out here Lifetime Registry, 115 degree heat during the day and 95 degree heat at night. Very high cost of electricity during summer months. I been out here close to eight years you have to keep your id on you all the time. even if you live in Apartment complex and walk out your front door to take trash to dumpster. You never know when the cop will drive by and stop you… They do a lot stop and talk but I like to call it by its real name racial profiling or just profiling plus I live near Grand Cayon University small college part of the city. lots of police drive by. There are some landlords that rent to you but you gotta deal with bedbugs cockroaches I am thankful I found a very nice 1 bedroom 580.00 a month and pay for electricity no bugs

On an election night in Florida where a vote for giving back voting rights to felons other than murder’s and sex offenders looks like will pass. I agree for I myself went to give them the times I will leave Friday and where I will be and when I will come back. I agree a phone call could have done the same thing. But why should I expect any consideration, I have been going every 3 months since the early 90s, reporting my vacations, restricted to not attending Parks, and many other places I and my family can if I am with them. Grrrrr what a mess, I agreed to a plea of 3 years and Take Therapy. I have a life sentence.

I am interested. I thought I would be done with all of this years ago.

I bring doughnuts to to the registration office and books to make it less stressful got everyone.

In-person affects my job schedule, travel schedule and I loathe taking multiple vacation days to go sit in an office, wait for hours, get searched and speak to people who look down and speak down to you.
