Jay puts off decision whether to hire sex offender as city manager indefinitely
The Town of Jay decided to hold off on hiring a registrant as their town manager indefinitely. Essentially it was a decision that precluded her hiring. The meeting was heated:

An update: They came today with the lead registration sheriff, who was conducting a spot check and training a new trainee officer. I was glad to see that training is taking place.
During the visit, the trainee officer asked the supervisor where the “FS 943.0435” designation appears on a driver’s license, and the supervisor pointed it out. The trainee then asked me how that number gets placed on the license and whether I have to request it from the Department of Motor Vehicles.
I explained that every time I renew my driver’s license or replace a lost one, I have to sign paperwork acknowledging that I am a registered sex offender. He responded, “Really? Wow, that’s crazy.” That was his genuine reaction.
I then asked him whether he thought that could be considered compelled speech. He said yes, but that it would take the right case brought before the right people to change it.
It also made me wonder: shouldn’t law enforcement officers—especially those in the Special Victims Unit (SVU) who handle offender registrations—already know the driver’s license process at the Department of Motor Vehicles?
New guy was testing you. ? you do have the markings right? If so no worries. Also mybe he was being genuine with the “Really, Wow, that’s crazy” and his “Yes” answer.
In my opinion these SPOT people at least where I am at seem shocked when I say, “Well this is my 42nd time today.” He was like “wow” I asked him if he was new to the unit and he said no and that he has seen me in there before. IDK I prayed that he would ask me no questions and well he did not after I told him how long I had been doing it for. He printed my stuff handed my License and said “See, you in January, brother.”
I walked out of there saying that was weirdest re registration I have ever had.
This was at my front door. Im a sex offender not predator. They spot check me 4 times a year as a harassment effort in hernando county. They also like to watch me closer too
I applaud the town counsel member with what they said, “I moved on.” The woman audience speaker saying, “I carry that weight with me.” Ok, it’s her choice to carry that weight with her. She’s burdened, she’s this, she’s that. Understandable….BUT……the choice remains: will a person become bitter or become blessed? You can’t have it both ways simultaneously all the time. You DON’T, DON’T, DON’T, DON’T, DON’T have to carry anything. Transfer that load and move on!
Here endeth the lesson.
I got the green card Hernando County put on my door today for a spot check. It says to call the office regarding my sex offender registration.
Is it legal for them to leave a large green door hanger like this? It looks like the kind of card restaurants use for takeout orders and is very noticeable on the doorknob. It seems like this could amount to compelled speech or publicly identify me by signaling to others that I’m a registered sex offender.
I’m still waiting on my first spot check since the new SB 212 law went into effect.
It’s peculiar to me that everyone suddenly grow’s a halo and is determined to “protect children” from someone who’s job wouldn’t be in contact with children meanwhile they let their children run wild on social media, video game platforms, and messaging apps with no oversight.
Claiming God is on their side. Funny each side of every war claim God was on their side.
Free will is what was given to us. Government took it away from every American Citizen by having GREEDY elections by by people who only care about money.
Even murderers and thieves can vote but we can not and one of the reasons this will never be in our favor.
Funny how God gets brought into the conversation only when it’s time to justify excluding a registrant. A former drug addict can become a mayor. People with troubled family histories can run hospitals or hold respected positions. But the moment someone is a registrant, suddenly it’s all about “protecting everyone,” morality, and claiming God is on their side. The selective application of forgiveness says more than the sermons do.
