LA: Teen accused of recording sex with 15-year-old booked on child pornography charge

A Gretna 17-year-old accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl and recording the encounter with his cell phone has been arrested and booked with possession of pornography involving juveniles, according to a Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune is not identifying the suspect in the case. The teen was also booked with misdemeanor carnal knowledge of a juvenile and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile by performing a sexually immoral act.

The Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation after receiving a complaint from the girl’s parents, according to Col. John Fortunato, spokesman for the department. Detectives questioned the teen, who admitted having sex with the girl, the report said.

Misdemeanor carnal knowledge of a juvenile prohibits adults, people 17 or older, from having consensual intercourse with a person ages 13-16 when the offender is between two to four years older than the victim. Felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile occurs when the offender is four years or older.

During questioning, the teen also admitted recording his encounter with the girl with a cell phone, the arrest report said. He gave detectives permission to search his phone. Investigators located the video, which violates the state’s child pornography laws because the girl is a juvenile, authorities said.

But through the video, the detectives determined that the teens had sex in a bed next to a 2-year-old boy, the arrest report said. In the recording, the toddler clearly wakes up during the act, but the pair did not stop, the report said. As such, the detectives booked the teen with the charge of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

The teen was arrested Wednesday (Sept. 23) at his home in Gretna, and booked at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna. He was still being held there Thursday on a $21,000 bond.
