Steven Yoder, an investigative journalist who has had articles featured at our site, has done much to share with the public the truth about people on the sex offense registry and the punitive effects the draconian laws and ordinances have had on registrants.
Yoder is now in the process of gathering data for future articles and needs our help. He is looking for examples of registrants who have said their probation or parole officers discouraged or forbade them from attending political events or did not go because they did not want to have to get permission from their state or local registry office to attend, usually in cases involving travel.
He is looking specifically for examples of political events, such as rallies, testimonies before legislatures, handing out leaflets, etc. Names are not necessarily needed, just the state and the event.

Steven Yoder has done an incredible amount of honest, sex offender myth busting journalism, but he cannot do it alone. He needs our help. There is power in numbers, and we have the numbers.
I’m too terrified to vote – does that count? My adjudication was withheld, so I’m on this infernal list never having been technically convicted of any crime. Now, knowing that even an errant arrest with no charge or conviction could hurt my chances of ever getting off this list, why would I risk it? I fully expect the powers that be would arrest me first and ask questions later. Disenfranchisement by fear.

As long as Sexual Predator aren’t around kids then this is a Stretch in my opinion to restrict them from these activities.
We don’t want ANYONE preying on kids in their vicinity, regardless of whether the state has placed any label on them.
Fortunately, kids tend not to be preyed upon at political rallies, on sidewalks where leaflets are distributed, or in legislative hearing rooms

I disagree Derrick , since I live in central Fla. I could not attend the event in Tallahassee for 2 reasons one getting permission to travel there and secondly I would not be allowed to stay the night due to curfew. so it don’t always have to do with kids as to the reason we can not attend some meetings , events or protests
The general public often equates anyone who was convicted as forever predatory. Registrants get denied jobs, housing, education, among other things. A registrant goes to the supermarket, there are kids there. A restaurant, a movie theater, where do we draw the line?
