Member Submission: Identity Theft Warning

The following came in from a member:

Today I got the 7th of untold collection agency notices that are 100% real, sent to my address but with someone else’s name on it.

I called the sheriff’s office (not the number on the letter) and they confirmed the letter is real and they are a real collection agency who collects fines for the courts here in Florida for numerous counties. Further they stated criminals are thwarting payment by using people on the registry’s addresses to stall being caught.

They told me to call the lawyers office tomorrow and let them know that person has never lived here otherwise in the future, someone with a warranty could show up at my door.

This nonsense has got to stop.
