MI: Township trying to evict ministry operating transitional housing for sex offenders.

Gaines Township is threatening legal action against Living Water Ministry Network, a nonprofit ministry that helps provide housing to homeless sex offenders.

According to the ministry’s website, “Living Water Ministry Network provides homes and supportive services to disciple men paroling from prison and at-risk young men to become godly, contributing members of the community” Their vision is, “To stop the cycle of crime and to be a vital witness for the gospel to our communities.”

The Township would rather see these men living on the streets, than living in a supportive environment where they are offered shelter and guidance.

The township has a contact form, which can be found here: http://www.gainestownship.org/citizen_request_center/index.php anyone interested in voicing your opinion is encouraged to do so.

There are 9 Departments to send this to.
Might as well send them all of them.

Fire department need to know it is NOT safe for those homeless to be outside trying to keep warm with a fire going.

water and sewer department needs to know that it is better for RC to have a place to stay and not pee outside

    You get the idea.

      Got a response

The Township has pursued action against the home on Brownell Street due to a zoning violation. Halfway houses are not a permitted use within the R-3 zoning district. Please let me know if you have any more questions.

      Thank You,

Sent a comment to 3 different departments, you can only type 150 characters or less so i made it short and sweet lets see if they respond in the mean time lets send a letter of encouragement to a real church in Living Water Ministry in hopes their true godly actions spread to other cities and parish’s

So typical…let’s not give anybody a second chance. I can almost guarantee that some busy body housewife caught wind of this place and got her friends all riled up…maybe, just maybe most or all of these guys can fight the uphill battle facing them and find some kind of redemption in the form of productive lives. I’m pulling for these guys and hope the people running this place can withstand the public onslaught that inevitably comes with all things “sex offender”. Redemption is entirely possible…I know because I have built a incredible life with a wife, kids, and a career. As much as society wants to use the terms registrant, offender, and predator…that does NOT define us unless we let it..stay strong everybody and maybe say a prayer for these people who are trying to put their lives back together..

I submitted my comment but the only problem I had with the form is that they ask which office you want it submitted to. I chose the “supervisor’s office”. I hope that was the right place to send it.
