Michigan legislators get 90 days to fix sex offender registry

A stipulation was entered in what has been called “Does v. Snyder II”, giving the Michigan Legislature 90 days to fix their unconstitutional sex offender law.

In Does v. Snyder, the 6th circuit found the retroactive application of amendments to Michigan’s sex offender laws to violate the constitution under ex post facto grounds. To do that, they had to find that the registry was punishment.

It seems lawmakers in Michigan are working on a fix, because both sides stipulated to an order giving them 90 days to roll something out.

A copy of the order can be found here.

This Decision by Judge Cleland is a indisputable detractive, meaning the state of Michigan has NO choice but to revise it in the next 90 days.

I was convicted in1992 before Michigan even had a registry, but was placed on it retroactively anyway, I am a pre-sorna registrant so once these idiots finally revise our registry I will be removed from it automatically, I was only suppose to do 25 years but put on it for life.

I will have 27 years on the registry on 6-19-19, which again means I will be removed from the registry . Since Michigan is now out of options they need to get on it and fix it already. Game over Michigan you lost.

The registration office, in my county usually call them give them the address and they will verify the distance, remember to write down the name of the person you talked to and the date time. Far as probation I would verify that information with the probation office before making any commitments and get it in writing
