State authorities are telling a metro Grand Rapids man who confronts suspected sexual predators to stop what he’s doing, saying “vigilante activity will not be tolerated.”
“I strongly urge the public to leave this work to career professionals,” a Wednesday statement from Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel read in part.

Very good post. I’m experiencing many of these issues as well..
This site truly has all the info I wanted concerning this subject and didn’t know who to ask.
Just a thought how many of us recieved a warning ? Lock his ass up for interfering and send a message that way if law enforcement is really serious about wanting him to stop
I’m sure I’ll catch some heat for this. But I dont have a huge problem with this. If you’re out there looking for kids and minors. I hope you do get cought. It didnt say he was harassing registrants that I heard did it? So while it’s a terrible idea that will probably get him killed. I just dont take that big of an issue on this subject.
He is targeting adults who apparently are willing to make an effort to have sex with a minor. Not threatening them with violence, just exposure. He is not targeting people on the registry.
I don’t see his vigilantism as an issue that should affect FAC members one way or the other. We don’t favor taking the law into our own hands, but neither are we OK with potential abuse of minors.
So for a topic virtually unconnected to FAC’s mission, it sure is drawing a lot of comments.
He said he doesn’t think the police like the competition. That is all it is for him, one big game! The prosecutor knows this, that is why he said he will not pursue any case that involves this vigilante.
Does this mean they want to leave vigilantism up to the Michigan professionals…probation department?
This guy will meet up with the wrong person at one of these meetings and things will go horribly wrong for him. He is playing with fire. Some of these guys will be pushed around but like a wild animal caught in a trap, some will do whatever it takes to get away.
Since this guy is not law enforcement, some armed citizen who maybe was caught in this guys trap, will do something to change both of their lives.
Seems he has a personal grudge or something

What I did twenty years ago was wrong. I have paid my debt, been forgiven by my daughter, and continued down a road of good citizenship that I have been on for nearly 74 years. My act had no where close to the negative effect of a drug dealer who sold one pill to a child, yet in Florida I cannot vote and the repentant drug dealer can. Do our legislators ever question their acts for common sense application? Or do they make decisions that will appeal to uneducated voters who think ‘their man or woman’ is a real legislative hero? Registration not only destroys the lives of individuals, but destroys the lives of their families. Where’s the ‘hero’ in doing that?
Are you implying that a child being sexually abused is not nearly as bad as a drug dealer giving a child ONE pill? Although any drug given to a child is horribly wrong, immoral, and devastating…. it doesn’t compare to a lifelong nightmare and innocence being lost forever. That child will have to fight that memory for the rest of their living days on this earth. We are all taught in life to forgive, but they will never forget!
They are both bad. ONE pill can lead to addiction or overdose. Nobody is justifying either crime nor competing for what’s worse. Both are terrible.
Keri, my daughter and I made up several years ago. She moved from Michigan and now lives nears me in Florida. We get along just fine. Not all sex offenses are the same and do not all have life long effects as people in the ‘rehab’ business like to make out. To think as you do is part of the problem. By the way, the Bible does not say ‘Forgive and forget’, it says ‘Forgive and not remember’. Forgiveness is the greatest of healing ointments. Being satisfied as a permanent victim will eventually kill a person. I’ve had to do some forgiving and it is such a blessing…I found forgiving myself to be the toughest and I found receiving my daughter’s forgiveness to be the greatest gift.
Excellent information TXSO4LIFE
The problem is instead of trying so hard to figure out who is now no longer a threat , They need to set logical guidelines as to what is considered a threat in the first place as most on the registry were never a threat to anyone in the first place.
We have logical guidelines for assessing peoples’ threat levels TODAY. Our challenge is persuading legislators to use them.
What a mockery to the Judical system. The State’s Attorney is just grand standing on this.If they were serious they be nailing this guy for Impersonating a Law Enforcement for setting up strings. I kinda thought it was he grabbing the keys in the parking lot right there is another crime called assault.I don’t like to live in my past had he grabbed my keys like that he be taking his meals through a straw.I do not let anybody put there hangs on me. Even the correctional staff knew better since I been on close mangerment a few times for hitting everyone anyone.
I cant stop laughing because the dude going to run into the wrong person. and the crap he saying “he got a gun too” Gonna be funny someone takes it from him and he looking down the barrel of the gun
If I understood the article correctly this guy is posing as a young girl and arranging to meet these men for a sexual hook up. The article was not clear about him tracking people down from the registry. If he is impersonating a child on the Internet and arranging these meetings then he needs to back off and let law enforcement handle this issue. He is endangering himself and the people he is meeting. There are countless ways than one of those meetings could go sideways and somebody end up injured or dead. If he is tracking down people who are on the registry that is a crime in Florida but I don’t know what the laws are in Michigan.
Ya know, you can’t even buy a cup of hot coffee at McDonalds without a warning on it that gives you some instructions so you don’t harm yourself or someone else, otherwise you could be sued . So how can they legally get away with putting out people’s personal information to the public without giving instructions and details as to what it’s supposed to be for and explaining the low recidivism rate of offenders on the list , and explaining at each picture that this person has not been determined to be a threat to the public and is not considered a pedophile unless they have been convicted of multiple accounts of it. Also explaining that the list is not for the public’s use but only for the use of law enforcement. When is this law suit going to be ready to sign?
He is not targeting people on the registry. He is setting up sting operations and targeting those who believe they are meeting a minor for sex.
This really doesn’t have much to do with the sex offender registry and the issues facing families that are on it.
It has a lot to do with the registry because the registry helps promote vigilante behavior. And if you knew the history of this movement, you’d understand that these vigilante groups eventually start targeting groups like FAC as well.
Fair enough. But if that is the reason for FAC posting this news on its site, then I would prefer FAC say so. The fact is, I don’t think FAC supports what EITHER SIDE in this story is doing.
when you place faces, names, address, vehicles, emails, phone numbers, employment and education on a website and say “hate this person ” you are bit moronic and hypocritical to later say “dont do vigilante activities ” against the persons you’ve marked…..I find it a tad ironic you’ve included the caveat ” it’s the job of professionals”…is there a special license or degree that one gets to make vigilante behavior acceptable ?. let me guess..
Vigilante? More like Hate Crimes!
The guy is creepy. I doubt a warning is going to stop him. He obviously thinks he is the law.
He is a waste. You cant help people like him. He will continue to repeat his assaults until he is cashed out.
This guy is doing exactly what needs to be done, I live in Michigan and the pigs/cops are to lazy to do their jobs, They are always asking us the public for help, well that’s what this guy is doing he is doing the pigs job for them because they are to lazy to do it their selves, and guess what he even caught a pig/cop trying to hook up with a young girl, and he confronted this pig head on.
You’re on the wrong page to be saying such thinks. Vigilantes should be condemned at every opportunity. This clown is no hero.
Cops aren’t great but at least there’s somewhat of a constitutional standard that invalidates bad arrests. There ARE no standards for these scumbag vigilantes.
I am on the right page, it’s just some of you bootlicker’s and snowflakes can’t handle the truth. Also for those who say he is impersonating a cop, your wrong because there is nothing in or on the news that says he is impersonating a cop NOTHING. He’s just confronting this idiots because the pigs are again to lazy to do it them selves, and some of these people perverts are pigs them selves like the one he confronted at a park.
I tend to sympathize with Bobby’s position here, though it’s made less persuasive by labeling people bootlickers and snowflakes just for disagreeing.
Why don’t they charge him with impersonating a police officer, as this is clearly a function of the police and law enforcement officers, not the public? A few arrests and jail time may change his mind, furthermore, vigilante justice is illegal! Perhaps they really wish for him to continue as, thus far, they have taken no legal action against him. Suppose this continues and more people start doing the same thing, goodbye to the registry!
If the judge doesn’t want the public to be vigilantes then don’t tell them to be. Because when they release the names to the public of people on the registry with no instructions as to what that list is for what is the public supposed to think there supposed to do. They don’t know but that there supposed to shoot them on sight or follow them or call the police or throw something at them or spit on them. By releasing the names addresses and all there personal information they are just giving the public the idea its open season on them ,just do what you want to them, and there families.
” They told him to stop ” LOL.
Yea, sorry but that guy looks like he is not going be stopping anything anytime soon. He looks both crazy and determined.
Plain and simple …. the guy is a bully. The law of averages being what they are, one day they will catch up with him.
What needs to “catch up with him” is something traveling faster than the speed of sound.
I m 70. I pray that this guy comes after me. Time to show this punk what a real beat down is.
I was thinking the same. You can call me whatever name you want, but once you put your hands on me, I will be on you like a Pittbull on a Poodle. That stunt he pulled with trying to strip away that man’s car keys from his own hands will not go well with some people including myself.
I would venture to say that this individual (and many like him) are so “motivated” to waste so much time and energy into hunting these people because these people are doing exactly what these so called vigilantes are doing themselves. True most of the time…especially with REAL law enforcement!
They should take a good long look in the mirror and then seek therapy!
Maybe he should be on a registry. At least investigated.
As long as the General public has access to the registry there are going to be vigilantism by sickos that think they are better than any one else. They point fingers and have three pointed right back at themselves.
The prosecutor told him to stop. What a joke! Stopping him involves prosecutors doing their jobs by putting him in jail and in jailers putting him in solitary confinement.
