“Military sex offender registry” might be coming

The 2026 National Defense Authorization Act instructs the secretary of defense to “establish and implement a policy to ensure that registered sex offenders that reside or work on military installations are identified to the respective military community, including, as necessary, through agreements with State and local law enforcement agencies.” Beyond a notification system, the legislation would also command the secretary of defense to examine whether the military should be more fully aligned with provisions of SORNA.

The bill also requires a report assessing whether the Department of Defense should be designated as a “jurisdiction for purposes of notification requirements under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.”

Great, so now we get to have categories?
    Teacher sex offenders
    Law enforcement sex offenders
    Hollywood actor sex offenders

    Etc. etc. etc.
What is the point of making more registries. The ones we already have are bad enough as it is. It will have to take everyone to be on some sort of registry I guess to make it stop.

They already don’t allow sex offenders on base. I’m a retired military vet and they won’t let me on any base. It’s kind of pointless to make a registry for military bases

SOs can’t live on base nor can they work on base. Usually, they are prevent from even coming on base without a sponsor to be with them.

I can get on base but I need my mother in law to be with me. She’s a military spouse.

She would be your sponsor to enter.

Just keep piling it on. One day this hit list will become so heavy it’ll crumble.
