NACDL: Call to Action: Congress Set to Consider Sentencing Reform

Dear Friends,

Congress is on the verge of passing significant sentencing reform legislation, and now is the time to make your voice heard!

While the First Step Act is far from perfect, it would provide relief to thousands of prisoners serving unjust sentences for crack cocaine and thousands more defendants sentenced every year for low-level drug offenses, firearms offenders currently subject to unjust enhancements, and defendants subject to draconian recidivism penalties under the federal 2 and 3-strikes laws.

While the First Step Act is just that, a first step, NACDL believes the bill is a worthwhile package that deserves support.

I realize this is not exactly on subject , but I just got back from a visit to my 90 day registry visit. And found out they have me listed as a Tier 111 . Mo just went to a tier system. I was originally charged in Kansas ,now live in Missouri . Offence lewd conduct. 4 kids were peaking in my bedroom window from my back yard as I got out of the shower and walked into my bedroom. I never saw them. Police came a while later and told me about it. To shorten the story. Was on the SO list in Kansas for ten years for a misdemeanor offence , then removed. I now live in Missouri thinking now that Mo has a tier system I can finally be removed but where Kansas considered it a single offence Mo considers it a duel offence since there was more than one victim.
I was told by the officer today the only way I can challenge the listing is to hire an attorney. Also noting that what I was charged with in Kansas is not even a registry offence in Missouri.
You at one time gave a listing for an attorney in St. Louis which is over 250 mi . As I live in the Kansas City area. Can you make a recommendation in this matter. I know the expense is going to be substantial . So any information to help would be appreciated.
