NARSOL: Florida’s artificially inflated sexual offense registry: More federal funds for the state?

Narsol re-posted Steve Yoder’s article from The Appeal, along with the above image, which I thought was funny/sad.

One of our members shared the information from the article with his US Representative, who responded with concern. Specifically, that Florida inflates it’s number of sex offenders for the purpose of receiving federal grants and then considers those non-existent registrants as “compliant” for the purpose of skewing it’s success numbers.

FAC Members, if you get a chance, please write or call your US Representative and share the article (https://theappeal.org/floridas-sex-offender-registry-proves-inescapable/) and this information

I sent a fax to ALL of the folks listed except: Rutherford, Murphy, Demings, Bilirakis, Spano Mucarsel-powell and Shalala because they did not have a fax number listed on their web page.

I understand Monies are tough to come by but a dollar there or fifty-cent here donated to the out of state fund. In stead of talking about the sad fact that Florida inflates its number. Right now be a good time to donate to out of state fund. I am not looking for to be recognized in donating monies to all three funds. I have at time put monies to in person challenge even though I am out of state now. One hand washing the other
This benefits your Register Citizens as well by donating to out of state fund as well.If we stop the inflated numbers We can also show the reoffense rates aren’t as high as the State claims!!!

Florida government is modeled after the Mafia so facts are not welcome and justice/fairness are not even considerations.

Until the corrupt Florida government is taken down nothing will change and the propaganda of fear and lies from the likes of Senator Lauren Book will continue and innocent people (including children) will suffer needlessly while some have so much money they party and crash Lamborghinis into innocent citizens (so much for protecting citizens right Ron?)! We ALL need protecting from this drunk old man driving a 2 ton killing machine on the public roadways!

These inflated offender number are simply lies and are fraud on a GRAND scale and is criminal!

I’m a little bit more North, but it doesn’t matter. It is all the same with the Florida registry.

We’re willing to do that, FAC, but mainly this should be an item for members of all OTHER (non-Florida) NARSOL affiliates.

The problem here is that Florida is attracting Federal dollars on false pretenses. That would mainly be a concern for congresspeople representing districts outside of Florida who receive no benefits from this at all. For a congress member representing a Florida district, the case is much more mixed. Congress members across the spectrum will do whatever it takes to attract Federal funds to their districts.

One of my Florida family members has an upcoming meeting with her US representative’s office. This representative is in favor of attracting Federal dollars for public safety purposes. How would you persuade him to do the reverse in this situation, FAC? Help us make the case!

It’s a problem for ALL non-FL jurisdictions, even the others doing some fudging by keeping people on the rolls. Unless everyone is fudging to the degree and in the manner FL is, FL is making out. Being a tourist destination, FL and its short registration window almost assuredly nets more “ghost RCs” than almost any other jurisdiction that keeps people. Those jurisdictions that wholly de-register are losing out the most, of course.

@ AJ I posted questions to Narsol asking what they going to do about it? and It is quiet on the Home front there has been no reply yet. problem is the people themselves they rather put head in the sand and pretend it don’t matter to them. If I were in florida. I would have found out where other register citizen live I would have knock on the doors asking for donations just a few pennies a nickel or even a quarter.
Since I go to AZRSOL I paid out of my own pocket to copy flyers from the public libary
and knock on doors or just leave the flyer on the door. so I let others they their is a support group. People come and go there all the time So I don’t know who is new or not….
The point I am trying to make people DO SOMETHING besides tying at a keybroad!

If it were an individual artificially inflating numbers for federal funding, that would be considered defrauding the government and would carry hefty fines and jail time. But since it’s a state, lets just ignore this illegal law. Would love to see Flori-duh have to pay all that money back.
