I would suggest all NC registrants get their friends and family members to boycott the fair. May not matter this year, but eventually, the fair will have no one to attend it.

Is NCRSOL actually trying to do anything about the law or did they just send out a media statement?

      Speaking out is doing something.

I agree completely. If 1 million people spoke out, that could be the most important, effective thing that is done to fight the Registries cancer.

I do try not to be critical and yes I’m grateful for any person or group willing to advocate for us, but I also have wondered about the effectiveness of the national group. From out here it seems they do a lot of proclaiming and talking to themselves and not very open to suggestions on how to improve or a willingness to give up the reigns, giving fresh leadership a try. There are many more of us than there were 10 years ago. Some who are very educated and with it leaders.

Excellent!!!! We are always asking for people to step up and volunteer for active roles in FAC. We will look for you to step up soon!

I too have sat on the sidelines watching, waiting, wondering whether to invest both emotional and financial capital. Just recently I contributed to the FAC community both financially, paying the annual membership fee and mentally-emotionally posting my absolute outrage of the actions of a high-profile advocate for the reform of sex offender laws. His actions, I believe, reflect poorly upon the movement to reform sex offender laws. We as a community shouldn’t be trying to minimize or place blame somewhere else, rather there should be nothing less than full throated condemnation of his actions.

So, the question is are we more interested in the agenda of reforming and promoting the advancement of “RATIONAL SEX OFFENDER LAWS”, then finding the truth? What do we mean by Rational Sex Offender laws? Will we recognize that there are some bad characters that do require the publics notification? That some recidivate may require additional detention upon release? If so, then maybe we can find common ground with are adversaries. To have a legislative win, we must.

Here’s my truth. I’m here on this blog because I was charged with, plead guilty to, was convicted of and punished for committing a sexual battery on a minor under 12. I spent about 45 days in the County jail and 10 years on paper. I was not caught by my spouse or reported by my victim I sought help through a counselor. It was my voice on the recording of the abuse hot line.

At my sentencing the judge directed I recite each of the special conditions of my probation. Upon finishing he asked do you understand each one of those conditions. Yes, I answered. He went on, this court condemns your actions but also commends you for seeking help. It is this reason and only this reason the court accepts this plea and conditions of probation. Do not come before my court for a violation of any of these special conditions, I will surely revoke it and sentence you to 35 years. Do we understand each other? That was 25 years ago, I never violated, whether civil or penal.

I tried to voice my opinion about Mr. Baughman and the potential consequences of his actions on the reform movement. My posts where denied. High profile public advocates as well as the associations and associates that sponsor and support them, must all be beyond reproach.

As an associate, I cannot support, defend nor deny the actions of a 34-year-old man on sex offender probation texting a 16-year-old. ITS WRONG. As an associate, I can not support, defend nor deny the negative public reaction of a high profile advocate for the reform of sex offender laws, calling the victim of horrific sexual abuse a F—ing C—t, simply because she advocates for brutally harsh sex offender laws. One only needs the ability to emphasize to understand her
          position.

Frankly, listening to her call SOs, monsters wasn’t as painful as hearing a daughter say in a hushed and whispered tone “Daddy was the Monster” See, That’s their truth.

So, if I choose to become active, to use my story and advocate reform, to present before legislative bodies whether at local or State levels, to interview with journalists, I know full well I’ll have to answer for the reprehensible behavior of others. I can only hope my actions, words and history speak louder than theirs.

Perhaps my daughter and i will become the counter balance. Maybe will march to Tally… It will be her choice.

Yes! Yes! If FAC could get these people on board actively working as volunteers for our cause, there could be no limit to what could be accomplished in the state of Florida. What I do not see are the “masses” out their supporting our cause, yet we have a massive amount of people — 28,000. Drop the 10% who plan on re-offending and we still have 25,200 people. We need you and others like you. I started off very small and very confused, but slowly over time I saw that possibly I could help a team of people, just like you, plant a small seed that could one day sprout into a game changer. We need people who can think outside the box, are risk takers, are driven with a purpose in sight, brain stormers, and always looking for improvements. Forget about what the national organization is doing. With the right people, FAC is capable of accomplishing much and becoming the best practices model for the other 49 states to follow. Please help us and enlist others like yourself.

There are radicals on both sides. Offenders who call for us to crash the court houses and citizens who call for our death. Then there are reasonable people ob both side who want to work to make the laws more fair for both sides. The reasonable folks are the ones who will get something done. The radicals stir things up and get people scared. Those are the ones that get offenders beaten up because they go and post peoples addresses on facebook , next door etc and they do not care if your kid gets beat up on the way to school for living in the same house as a sex offender.
When my grandkids came to visit, they did not understand why I wouldn’t let them play with the neighborhood kids. Sadly one place I lived there was a lady ( I call her that loosely ) who made it her mission to make my life miserable. The blonde reporter in this story ( The 2nd lady they showed ) reminds me of her. “Kill them all” is their motto and they would spit on your dying body and laugh.

Finally watched this. The news guy actually seems to have a brain. Not so much the other knee-jerk, feel-good “news” people.

You said, “make the laws more fair”. The laws shouldn’t exist. That is the ONLY thing that is acceptable. Unless that happens, I’m absolutely going to continue to make people pay for them. As I have for literally decades now. They have caused a very high level of harm to society overall. Meh, I guess.

The male anchor seems to get it, but the blond is absolutely clueless. She just lowered the credibility of news journalists. I was out of town all day, it is late and I am tired, but I could not let this one go. I have responded in their comment section. We sure need some other people to do so who can. It is okay if you do not have any data off the top of your head that you can use — simply state that she has no idea what she is talking about, and that people are not going to watch local stations that put out such inaccurate information. There is power in numbers.

Wow just plain absolute hate and disgust for all people on the registry. Making a broad statement giving up on offenders as not being able to be treated with therapy and counseling with ZERO knowledge of what you are talking about is plain sick.
I do understand people have a fear and I myself have been a victim of crime ( my house being broken into ). They never caught the people ( I know who did it but cant prove it ). They were meth heads and I have long since forgiven them and if they caught them today , 6 years later, I would probably not even press charges. It is in the past and I have moved on, hoping they have changed their lives for the better. I guess sometimes you have to be down yourself to see what others are going through. Those on that sound stage in the video were entitled people with their heads in the clouds.
Unfortunately, I see things like that on the news all time. For example someone is merely accused of something yet the news says ” A child rapist was caught today”. Well there went that persons chance of a fair trial as they were already convicted in the news. They even did that with some of the people in this sting where it was cops posing as 14 year olds. The news were calling them all child molesters.

This video is even worse than the first one. These people are spouting out false information with the station making it appear that they know what they are talking about. I have responded in the comment section here as well and hope some of you will, too. WCNC of Charlotte, NC has taken pure ignorance and turned it into propaganda minus any truth. I am wondering if their parent company, NBC of New York City, knows what nonsense they are putting out. Would it do any good for me to contact them, too?
