Nebraska Probation Officers Find Themselves Under Judge's Gavel

A Nebraska Judge has had enough. After not one, but two State Probation Officers came before him for what he called “grievous violations” of trust in committing crimes themselves, he’s decided to “send a signal to every damn state probation office employee that you’re going to get hammered” if convicted of similar crimes.

Senior U.S. District Judge Richard Kopf sent the message to POs across the country (and to other Judges) that criminal acts committed by probation officers are becoming a serious issue that needs to be addressed.

One of the POs sentenced by Kopf had engaged in sex acts with four women under his probation supervision! He got nine years in prison.
