It’s no slap on the wrist to get life on the registry.

Weekends in jail for raping a 13 year old girl is what I’m speaking of. We all know the registry is punishment that we all have to endure but if it were any ordinary citizen, especially someone without means, they’d never see the light of day again for raping a minor.

The 4tb Circuit uses double speak because they says it does not violate the Ex Post Facto Clause but “furthers the goals of punishment…”

On page 24 of the opinion: “Having considered each of the factors individually, we must now balance them to
determine “whether the sum provides the ‘clearest proof’ that the registry is punitive in
effect.” Settle, 24 F.4th at 948 (quoting Smith, 538 U.S. at 105). Though the registration
statute imposes difficult burdens on qualifying offenders, and furthers the goals of
punishment to some extent, the remaining factors—including the “most important” one—
        all favor the State.”

So it’s punishment to some extent but not enough punishment to qualify as their view of punishment. So we violated some of your civil rights but not enough that it would trigger a judicial process. That’s idiotic reasoning of course the state interest are going to benefit the state. Look at the Jim Crow laws same thing. Those laws were the benefit and self interest for the state and they were ruled on just same logic should be applied to this form of segregation.

The mental gymnastics and legalese contortions they use to defend this train wreck is infuriating, yet totally predictable. You’ll always here the opposite of truth from the courts on this subject matter.

      @Eugene

      ***MY opinion***

The courts just make stuff up and can do whatever they want. I mean they are the freaking supreme court, who is going to challenge them? They are the most powerful people in the U.S, even able to rule on things the President does.

Also, to me, they are playing God with our lives. We did our time, why give us a life sentence of pain when most of us have completed our sentences AND the registry did not exist when I and many others’ incidents happened. Retroactive laws really smell like we stepped in dog poo.

Ok I ranted, I feel about 1% better, nawww, just kidding, I still feel like crap on the bottom of someone’s shoes.

isn’t people being forced to register, provide information involuntary servitude since register is civil and not punishment?

For example, a State may not disenfranchise felons with racially
    discriminatory intent. Hunter v. Underwood, 471 U.S. 222, 233, 105 S. Ct.
1916, 1922 (1985).6 Likewise, the Thirteenth Amendment bars involuntary
servitude “except as a punishment for crime.” U.S. Const.
Amend. XIII. Nevertheless, certain involuntary work requirements
imposed on convicted criminals may violate the Cruel and Unusual
    Punishments Clause. Williams v. Henagan, 595 F.3d 610, 622 n. 18 (5th Cir.
    2010).

What’s the servitude? How are we being forced to work when many of us can’t find work due to the registry?

Also, PAYING to be slaves and being forced to deal with so-called “compliance” nonsense by answering the door then LEO shoves clip board under our noses.

It goes far beyond servitude, it’s emotional blackmail and mental torture.

Pedophila panic gets officer killed https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/florida-mom-claimed-neighbors-pedophiles-tried-killed-authorities-say-rcna165480

Noticed how they don’t want to release a lot of the information it doesn’t take that hard to connect the dots. After doing a little digging, she lived and Eustis on Brookside Drive and what do you know we found our victim… a resident. Im sure there will be a mass funeral processions for the officer but if she killed the registrant I wonder if it would even make the paper? Hopefully the other police officer makes a full recovery.

Sorry to see a law enforcement officer lose his life like that. I hope that this family isn’t praised for their Alleged intentions. That’s were my mind goes anymore.

Orlando tv stations make no mention of this news. It’s like it’s been censored to not include. The shroud of darkness has descended upon this state. Heavy handed control. The registry must be repealed. It must cease to exist. The profitable cycle must be broken. The fear publicity must stop. Our country must repeal the Registry. Social justice will be the downfall of the registry.
To the officer who lost his life. My heart drops with sorrow. To the other injured officers, I feel gratitude they are still alive. I wish the registry and fear publicity would not fall into the hands of unknown social justice such as these people. Only law enforcement should know this information. I fear this tragedy could have been avoided. That officer should still be alive.

Inside an ‘ambush’: Standoff with conspiracy theorists left 1 Florida deputy killed, 2 injured
More than 20 weapons, stockpiled ammunition, plus anti-government and conspiracy theory-related media were found in a Florida home after a gunfight that left one deputy and three others dead.
      Mike Snider
      Julie Garisto
      C. A. Bridges
      USA TODAY
A Florida woman has been charged in the death of a deputy sheriff who was shot responding to what police described as an ambush. Investigators said the woman, Julie Sulpizio, 48, had been attempting to lure neighbors into her home to kill them because she believed they were pedophiles.

Finally a court that uses common sense in its rulings. No element of a sexual nature should not be a sex offense. Kudos to the MI High Court.

” in Dissent, He said the Michigan law empowers the public and is not a punishment.”

I wish to God that those who believe the registry is not punishment, could be put on it for just 60 days and tell us how they feel afterwards. We can all list 100 different things that have happened to us due to being on the registry. And a few that cannot tell their story because they were murdered due to the “No punishment” registry.

Diane, how do you know? Are you researching people forced to register near you? How do you know the name on Facebook is the same person? Alot of people have common names. Also, it could be ID theft.
