NY Daily News Needs to Shame Sex offenders Posthumously

This week’s tragedy in Washington, when an Amtrak train derailed killing several passengers, could have stood alone as “big news” for the NY Daily News. So why did the news outlet need to run as story titled, “Third man killed in Washington state Amtrak derailment was convicted for child pornography.”

Were they trying to suggest that the deaths were not a complete tragedy? Were they trying to further wound an already deceased man?

At this point the only shame and hurt they are adding are to the deceased victim’s family. Someone might want to suggest that to the editor. You can contact them from the link at the bottom of the article, which can be found here: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/man-killed-amtrak-derailment-convicted-sex-offender-article-1.3711976

This is what I sent: I am writing in reference to your recent story (12/20/2017) titled “Third man killed in Washington state Amtrak derailment was convicted for child pornography.” I have to question the motivation for this story. First of all, does the persons past make his death less tragic? Suppose he had been convicted of drunk driving instead or domestic abuse…would you have included that in your article to sensationalize a tragic event? I am ashamed that there are those in our country that will not even let a person be killed without shaming them publicly after they are gone. It may surprise you to realize that sex offenders ARE humans and they actually have people that love them! Shame on you for hurting his family like this!

Emailed this moron a few words to think about, suggested that he writes about the modern day Nazi Regime of the USA (Sex Offender registry) instead of this insensitive, disrespectful garbage that he wrote about this tragic event.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

Guess they never heard the saying about speaking ill of the dead. It’s also lousy journalism since it’s totally irrelevant to the story.

    Sickening!

As if the death of a loved one in a freak accident is not enough to bring sadness at this time of year to this poor family this despicable publication, in an attempt to sell more papers uses this man’s tragic death for profit.

Simply sickening and vividly illustrates the state of the media in today’s America!
