Ocala sex offender jailed after registering a day late

An Ocala man was arrested Monday after he showed up a day late to update his registration as a sex offender.

Shaun David Killie, 33, of 4055 NW 63rd St., was supposed to re-register during the month of May. He was reminded when he updated his vehicle information in December 2019 and again in February, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office report.

Killie reported Monday to the sheriff’s office sexual offender unit and completed a late registration for May 2020. He had no excuse for not registering on time.

Lauren Book will pass a law to make sure citizens are protected from people in their graves. They’ll have GPS monitors and cameras in graves/ morgues. Just in case someone pulled a fast one; never can be to careful when it comes to protecting children. I could see her trying to pass a bill like this. We know she’s safe if aliens are looking for intelligent life they’ll keep on looking.

I had an incident last year where all hell was breaking loose in my life. My wife had just had her car totaled in an accident, my mother passed away from cancer and I had a severe bout of excruciating sciatica all in the same couple of weeks. After we purchased a new car for my wife I almost forgot to go down to the sheriff’s office to register it. Luckily I got in on the last hour of the 48-hour window and did not violate. But I almost forgot. I was completely overwhelmed with physical pain, emotional suffering and fatigue at that time and I could have easily just forgotten. I got lucky! These ridiculous laws are designed to screw people over and send them back to jail over everyday occurrences. They are not based on any real threat assessment or increasing public safety. They are purely a form of harassment.

Be glad you have 48hrs. In Missouri you are given an exact time to show up. If you are not there within 30 minutes an arrest warrant is sent out for you. The only up side is you don’t have to wait 4hrs. Like you did before they started this current set up. But then you had to show up on the day during there convenient hours less meal times and breaks.
Question . Are Black Lives the only ones that matter? Do the lives of those on the registry and there families not matter. This seems to be the current consensus.
True the attitude of many law enforcement need to be drastically altered but it needs to not stop there. Politicians and the general public also needs educated so that they realize all lives matter.

Seeing how we are forced into registering, and by doing so is performing a service to the public, than imo it shouldn’t cost us a dime. I think it’s pretty obserd that we have to not only be forced into registering, but have to pay for it as well.

No law says you have to pay to register. Why pay? If you don’t pay what can they do to you? Many counties don’t require payment.

Polk county just started that you pay them every time you register. I use to register with Marion County and the ones working there are not nice at all and try to set you up minute you get there. I called because they decided my first time registering there they posted fliers on mailboxes all stating predator instead of offender and I reminded them it’s bad enough to have a charge as stupid as mine register forever but they posted incorrect information on it. They asked if I wanted it fixed and redelivered uhh no I’m good. Next time they went door to door with flyers to welcome me to neighborhood. So now Polk county wants every vehicle in my situation same property different houses to register their vehicle seems unfair and I can’t drive but they are being arrested left and right for it. Seems unconstitutional to me

I think registering is an unnecessary overreaching and intrusive law but unfortunately, it is the law as backward as it is. When It’s my month to register and I haven’t by the middle of the month I start to have anxiety. Every day that goes by closer to the end of the month it gets worse. By the last week of the month if I haven’t registered yet I’m in full panic mode. I don’t know how this guy could let it go that long. Maybe because I’ve been in the Department of Corrections system for the past 25 years I’ve done my best to keep up with all the things that I have to do.

25 years and still being forced to register is harassment and punishment. If someone is a threat to society they should remain locked up otherwise leave people alone. These asinine laws are government sponsored terrorism on citizens that committed sex crimes and paid their debt. Funny how many government officials should be on a list for their sexual misconduct; but their misdeeds are paid for and covered up with taxpayer money.

I fully understand as I’ve been doing this since 05 and I freak when I even think something someone else does that could fall on me like neighbors complaining over things etc… I can’t sleep when my time comes up and it’s not fair to live like that knowing anything they say can put us back in. I agree with having a registry but it needs a long hard look into because 85% of us shouldn’t be on it

Everytime i read this kind of rediculas BS it makes my stomach hurt. So in return it is killing me little by little. It is a fact that stress kills a person. Sometimes i feel like i cant wait to die and be relieved from all sanctions. It took me 17 years to satisfy the first round of punishment. Now its been 14 years since the second round started. I was done with my sentence in 2006. I was feeling kind of happy to be done with 4 years of house arrest and 13 years probation. Almost exactly the same time i was sentenced again to register. I pray to God to make it stop!!. Thank you FAC!!.

In Florida dying will not get you off the registry. You will periodically have to rise up from your grave and go register. If you don’t they will lock you up in the morgue and not let you return to your grave.

Forcing a man to stop what he’s doing forcing him at gunpoint to relinquish arbitrary redundant testimony with no constitutional protection rights to remain silent after your sentence for the rest of your life an be subject to unwarranted investigation not to investigate crime against persons but to investigate the crime against yourself for not registering and putting yourself in jail. 20 years of this shit life; life to go!

There are some states (maybe all and they just don’t want you to know) that allow you a 10 day grace period if you are unable to register.
Also, if you fail to register, the sheriff is supposed to come to your house and tell you that you have to register within those 10 days.
Investigate this and you will find that what I am saying is correct at least for some states.

Registration is not more than an effort to justify a pay check for those who control it. The value of the registry has already, through numerous studies, proven itself to be useless and a waste of money.
