Operation Unmasking Predators: >180 arrested in Hillsborough County sting

Hillsborough County is in the news. Apparently a massive sting operation resulted in the arrest of more than 180 people allegedly preying on children. Notably no reports indicate that anyone on the registry was arrested.

And guess what, many of them will get the same charges or sentences as those of us who actually met a real victim and not a cop. And they will most likely be added to the registry. If things keep going with fake stings, the registry will double across the U.S in less than a decade.

Im one that met with a single mother who was 6 years older than me on a sex site. They said my intent was to have a 3some since its a fantasy that almost all men share. So im on that list for life, had employer destroy my body intentionally and now cant work labor jobs and nobody will hire me for office jobs.

On a fox 13 Tampa Bay article they note, “The sheriff noted that there are 175 sexual predators under supervised release in the community and each one of them was in compliance and reminded that they cannot participate in any Halloween activities.”

Why are people still falling for this? Do they not watch the news?
Should we start having “Welcome to the registry parties”?

I mean, yeah, I was dumb when I committed my offense but back then, there was not a registry, and the internet was just blowing up with meet up sites all over the place. The person I was with wanted to be with me and I assumed they were 18 because I met them on a website where you had to be 18. Would have been creepy to ask for a driver’s license but, in hindsight it might have saved me.

Of course not only will we find that almost nobody on the registry was arrested in the sting but that probably a very small fraction of them will actually get charged with anything.

But this will undoubtedly feed the funding grab that is the registry. Departments thrive on supplemental funding for these types of endeavors that line the pockets of their employees and budgets. It’s never been about protecting anyone, it’s about extra money.
