Palatka City Commission to pass SORR

After Putnam County passed its recent sex offender residency restriction that applied to the unincorporated areas of the County, Putnam’s largest city, Palatka, has taken the first step to enacting its own SORR that mirrors the County. Another city in Putnam, Crescent City, has also since done the same.

Here are the links to proposed ordinances in all of the incorporated Putnam Co. Communities. I’d like to point all they all read the same so they’re just copy-pasting the recently passed county ordinance.

Welaka (They didn’t post the Ord. publicly but if I was a betting man I’d go all in on them having the same ordinance as the others.) — https://www.welaka-fl.gov/sites/g/files/vyhlif1406/f/agendas/img11122025_0001.pdf

Interlachen doesn’t have anything noted YET but likely will in the near future. It appears they don’t have regular council meetings.

The goal is to make everywhere in the state unlivable for registrants. Once we’re all driven out or killed by vigilantes, they’ll celebrate. I for one would fight back however I needed to.

Even though not their primary focus, perhaps the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition could join along in this fight for common sense laws in Florida. Also our absent ACLU. The 2,500 ft laws are reaching “critical mass”. I would think they present a large legal target in infringing upon housing rights, freedom of movement, freedom of speech, association, etc. Everyone impacted by the registry needs to pull together and support FAC – the tip of our spear.

Seems like this inst going to stop. If this inst seen as banishment and punishment by the courts were all gonna be living on an island soon. I really dont have any real encouraging words to say anymore.

How about, “Let’s help FAC in their lawsuit so we can put an end to this?” That would be encouraging.

Well we try but most do not have money to help like they need. How much is the legal challenge going to be I’ve asked this before for any county realistically? Are these county’s not betting on us not having money or support?

I know it is a little extra work but I’d appreciate if if y’all took the time to post the whole ordinance or at least upload a PDF copy.

Also, have any of them passed yet? You can also expect the remaining incorporated towns in Putnam County are going to pass them so I’d be ready to take them on, too.
