Please help us hit 500

One week ago the Florida Action Committee started a Change.org petition calling on Florida Governor Rick Scott to Fix the Sex Offender Registry.

Our registry has cast too far a net and now contains people who committed non-violent, first-time offenses against no actual person. The registry also contains people who are no longer in our communities, people who were deported or who even died. The couple who had consensual sex on the beach is on the registry.

With so many low/no risk people on there, it’s hard for parents to distinguish the ones they need to actually watch out for, which is precisely what the registry was intended to do.

In order for our petition to be given consideration, we need to show substantial support. Our goal for this week is to reach 500 signatures. We are currently just short of 400, so we could really use your help in promoting the campaign.

The link to the campaign is: https://www.change.org/p/florida-governor-rick-scott-fix-the-florida-sex-offender-registry

You can sign anonymously by unchecking the box that says, “Display my signature on Change.org” or you can chose to publicly share your comments. It’s up to you.

Please help us hit 500 signatures for this week and help us all fix this broken registry!

Did the email have anything to do with the petition?

I’m putting out another call to my friend and family today. Are out of state signatures helpful or not acceptable to a Florida petition?
