Though a bit off-topic, this news will be relevant to anyone who has a loved one that is still incarcerated.

For years, the FCC was seeking to cap the exorbitant prison phone rates charged to inmates (and paid for by families) for simple telephone calls. The FCC reported that that “These add up to sometimes as much as $24.95 for a 15-minute phone call to someone who could be standing across the street from the prison or jail”.

Now, under the new presidential administration, the FCC, in a letter to the court, has decided that it will abandon it’s lawsuit.

Prisons are big business and that’s what the new administration is all about!
