The husband of a Manhattan prosecutor could face criminal charges after he and his wife allegedly videotaped their nanny undressing and showering in their bathroom, The Post has learned.
The nanny’s lawyer said a grand jury could soon hear evidence against the husband, Matthew Seltzer, 35, including possible felony charges of unlawful surveillance, attempted unlawful surveillance and falsification of business records.
“I am glad to see the District Attorney’s office finally moving forward with some semblance of justice,” said attorney Vincent White, noting that Brooklyn prosecutors told him they would present the case to a grand jury within four to six weeks.
Seltzer is married to Lauren Angelo-Seltzer, a Manhattan DA assistant.
Vanessa Rivas, 23, claims she caught the couple red-handed in January 2018 just as she was about to disrobe and shower at their StuyTown apartment.
She told The Post that she spotted the hidden camera, disguised to look like a black iPhone charger.
“I noticed a glare, and I was just like, wait this is odd, so I pulled it out of the socket, and the last video is me looking at it like, ‘What is this?’”
When she confronted Angelo-Seltzer, the ADA denied any knowledge of the camera — then used her law enforcement connections to try to intimidate the young care giver, Rivas claims.
The prosecutor summoned cops from the 13th Precinct, who threatened to arrest Rivas if she didn’t hand over the camera’s memory card, the nanny says. When she refused, officers let her go.
Then Angelo-Seltzer’s mom, former Manhattan Criminal Court judge Eileen Koretz, offered to pay Rivas for lost earnings after she’d quit her nanny gig if Rivas agreed to “end this.”
Instead, Rivas filed a police report and hired White to file a civil case against the couple.
Ok confused; the article clearly states “HE AND HIS WIFE” allegedly committed this crime so why is HE the only one being prosecuted? Oh thats right, its the law’s default position that only the one with the penis can be the offender.
So much for “all equal under the law”.
I’m neither confused nor surprised. The wife was a deputy district attorney, her mother was a judge who “married the former trial bureau chief for the Bronx District Attorney’s office, Joseph Giampaolo, in a 1999 ceremony officiated by then-Mayor Rudy Giuliani.” The mother tried to bribe the victim who steadfastly refused the offer. Good for her.
This is just another example of preferential treatment for the well-connected. As a friend once noted; “The criminal justice system ain’t broken. It’s fixed.”
I like the rest of you would love to see this registry taken down. But not at the expense of another person added to it. I know most of us think by having someone high profile put on it will draw attention to it that may bring some relief because of who they are. But wishing someone else to be on it is something I’m not supporting. I hope he gets his due process. And if he does land on it. Then I hope like hell him and his wife go to war to stop it. Because people never seem to care until it’s there neck in the noose. But if we would like forgiveness and understanding we should really practice giving some.
@ Steve Ahhhh nope! My crime was in 1989 I did my time I was told I have to register. Hmmm, Let me add up The loss of high paying job, the rejection of my mother because she rather be in the lime light in her social circles, then be understanding to me,Than there is lack of housing because no one wants to rent to us.I became disable and can not get section 8. Now the latest, I still can’t get to vote but carjacker and home invaded used D.O.C. like a revolving door. I don’t want to see anybody on this Black list. But I wont lie I do rejoice to see a government official get pop They have cause so much pain to me and others. When they understand empathy laws change Too many of these law makers been getting away because they feel they are above the law, I rejoiced because karma not GOD is setting things right And If it offends you the GOD part I lost faith in HIM along time ago when My accusers live in $250+ homes and continue to get away with there evil they did to me.
Karma really is a nasty b**ch.
Very nice !!! It is hitting close to home Let us see how well they fair under the sex offender registry. Hmmm loss of income, family and reputation. Good job Nanny!! This shows it is not the people on registry committing crime but people from all walks of life.
This definitely needs to go public, but will it?. This is the first I’ve heard about it! There is so much of this going on that no one is awhere of!. It’s just common since!! The money used for the registry needs to go toward somehow to prevent, scare, catch the unknown!!.
at least NY Post ran it ..https://nypost.com/2019/06/01/man-could-face-7-years-in-prison-if-convicted-in-nanny-spycam-case/
Why is the prosecutor not being charged for her role?
Funny, I didn’t see these people’s names on the Sex Offender Registery !?!?!?!?!. Guess this proves AGAIN that 97% of those on “The Registery” are NOT committing new Sex Crimes !!!!!. Just proves that people from ALL Walks OF LIFE commit Sex Crimes !!. And this proves AGAIN the The Registery is A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY !!!!!!. It stops ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AND PREVENTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING !!!. It just CAUSES Thousands of people to be Homeless, Away from their Families, And gives the public a sense of FALSE SECURITY !!!. Maybe this case will be the start of the Fall of The Registery !!!!. Let’s all pray !!!
