Reason: Florida Is Creating a New Sex Offender Registry Just for Prostitution Customers
Florida lawmakers just voted to create a public registry of people caught paying or attempting to pay for sex.
After an initial defeat in the Florida House of Representatives, the registry—arguably the worst part of a new Florida crime bill capitalizing on human-trafficking propaganda—was revived and reinserted before the measure’s passage in the Florida Senate. The final version, approved last week, creates a database of convicted prostitution customers, targets strip clubs, and mandates that a slew of state workers and businesses jump through new hoops to accommodate a few politicians’ latest attempt to get their names in the press.
As the Florida Senate’s Committee on Community Affairs stated, the new registry “will collect and centralize information relating to those convicted of soliciting prostitution, regardless of whether the person subject to the solicitation is a victim of human trafficking or not.”
The Soliciting for Prostitution Public Database will list anyone who has been convicted of, or plead guilty, to “soliciting, inducing, enticing, or procuring another to commit prostitution, lewdness, or assignation.” The legislation specifies that the database should include a person’s name, photograph, address, and offense. Listed people who go five years without a subsequent offense could have their names removed.
“This isn’t creating a list of bad or dangerous clients; it’s just a list of clients who got caught by the police,”

The sex offender registry doesn’t destroy enough lives lead to more divorces unemployment lack of housing bullying of children or spouses so lets create another registry that generates disgust. Legislators response: Sounds good to me.
I don’t know if anyone else does, but I find the holocaust reference (Jews in the gas chamber) repugnant.
I did not see the reference to Jews in the gas chamber. But I do see such references from time to time in discussions of registries, including on this forum.
Obviously such references do not belong.
It’s not great to be a registered sex offender in the U.S. But that is in no way analogous to being a European Jew during the Holocaust. Never has been, never will be.
if you stop and think and look outside the box a prostution list would be good..for the fact Florida now has to create a list taking people with past convictions to creat this list (expostofactor) double jeperdy now these people are going to scream loud about how unconstutional it is and violation rights thus for going in front of a judge claiming all (expostofactor) double jeperdy , this judge may just agree now on the flipside it will also make the SOR list unconstutional using the same statues that overturned the prostution list just sayn
Lauren Book should be prosecuted for human trafficking, her entire paycheck is off of the backs of sex crime victims.
Let’s don’t forget about Ron Book the drunk. I think he’s the president’s of Lauren’s kids to help protect them. He’s not worried about kid’s, when he’s driving his Lambo drunk, he should be fired.
Do you think Donald Trump will be on it? He has a residence in Florida. Or how about many of the politicians who voted for it? Read it closely, I am sure they left an exemption for themselves.
This is just the beginning, once this is in effect they will have lists for every crime. Think about the money they could make requiring people to register and the funds they could ask for to manage all these registries. Also charge fees to all the registrants to register, it’s a cash cow and they will sell it as a way to protect the people.
