Recidivism rate for female sex offenders remains low
Crime is not gender-neutral, according to Franca Cortoni. Women commit far fewer sexual offenses than men, and their risk of re offending after returning to the community is also much lower. A new meta-analysis based on data for 4,208 women shows a recidivism rate of just three per cent over 15 years.

It’s all low. It’s all under reported. There are only a small fraction of sex offenses prosecuted. Girls don’t report most of their boyfriends who are breaking the law or vice versa. I believe that only a fraction, probably as many as the % percentage of drunk drivers that are caught or at least theft, get reported, prosecuted and on the registry. It’s total stale chips by now. I can’t believe nothing has been done to get the registry pulled back any in Florida.
Is that 3% total recidivism for any new case, or reoffending a new registerable/sexual offense?
I think these are clearly different metrics that should be very clearly discussed. Someone recidivating by having a registry violation or drug case is a whole different animal than a new sex offense.
3%
In line with current stats showing 97% of offenders are first timers. So, how do you use that fact to change the narrative surrounding this topic for the better where PFRs are concerned?
I personally know dozens of men who are forced to register on the government hate-list.
In the 9 years that I have been back from prison, I haven’t seen a single one of them recidivate. (Maybe it’s something in the water…)
I know of a girl who was arrested about a month before my arrest who got pregnant by a 12 year old boy she was seeing. She agreed to a plea and received no jail time and 7 years of sex offender probation. So besides the recidivism rate among females being low, I also think that most female get favorable treatment by the courts.
