REMINDER: SCAM ALERT

A member in Duval shared the below. Please remember, if you receive a call from someone claiming to be in law enforcement it’s likely a scam. The latest twist is they are asking for the person’s Social Security number. With a name, address, date of birth and now Social Security Number it is very easy for scammers to commit identity theft.

I’m a RSO and I had a strange call from a guy stating he was a Sargent with the sex offender task force. His name was Bryan Davis. He called mine and my wife’s phone numbers and left the exact same message for me to return his call. Upon returning his call he started to ask me to verify my social and at that time I told him I would not answer this info over the phone and if he needed info he knows where I live. He said he would send a unit out with a warrant and arrest me and I hung up on him. I called my normal detective that comes to my house for check ins and he said if the guy calls me back him his number. He didn’t see any issues under my name. I’m writing this just to inform other RSO’s. I’m in Duval county and he called from a 904 number.

I have 3 felony convictions for failure to register, but no conviction for a sex crime. I originally was charged As an adult at the age of 17. I recieved a deferred adjudication probated sentence. I successfully completed the ten years of probation. Si ce then I have become homeless, jobless and penniless many times. When will lawmakers and judges start seeing , that this is a double jeopardy. I’m 47 now, 30 years and I haven’t committed any other crimes. What can I do. My case is from Dallas county , TX . I now reside in central Florida. Should I try and raise the money, to try and get it expunged from my record, or is this even possible. My best friend wants me to do this so bad, but I keep saying this feels like a neverending up hill battle.

A couple months back, I had a guy claim he was from the Sheriff’s Dept. claiming I hadn’t responded to a summons and now there was a warrant out for me. If I didn’t pay 10% of the $35,000 bond, I’d be in jail for a couple weeks. I ran along with him for a while and then without his noticing, I conferenced in the real Sheriff’s Dept. After a quick chat with the deputy, I took the scammer off hold. It was fun to listen to the deputy talk to the “Detective.” Needless to say, the scammer got a taste of his own medicine. (Of course the scammer got in no trouble because everyone knows RCs deserve everything that happens to them.)

The amazing thing about it is the police do absolutely nothing when the victim is a registrant.

I use these calls to have a little fun. I try to see how long the caller will hang on before hanging up.

      Captain,

Verbal Ping-Pong is the best Tactic with These Scumbags!

In my experience, they normally last about 4 minutes as they apparently are fearing for their life!
      LMAO
