SCAM Warning: Fake detectives calling employers

Be on the lookout for scammers calling EMPLOYERS asking for registrants. We’ve received reports from members whose employers received calls from a scammer pretending to be Detective Keith McCoy. FAC has confirmed this is a scam and police reports have been filed.
The number he is calling from is 863-862-5101 (you may get a voicemail with a fake sheriffs office recording – it sounds authentic, but it’s fake). If anyone wants to call “Detective Keith McCoy” to wish him good luck with his scam, now you have the number!

Another form of government sponsored vigilante punishment from the non punitive registry..This time making sure that anyone with a job will soon be jobless which is homeless, which is isolation with no family no food and no medicine.. Can’t pray because the churches doors are locked and God can’t hear you.. whew , Glad it’s just a Costco card ..

It’s become apparent that these “fake detectives” may not be so fake, after all!

In Michigan, police officers routinely visit the workplaces and employers of registered sex offenders. They often arrive in uniform, unannounced, walking through the premises in a manner that many describe as intimidating—projecting authority and making employers visibly uneasy about continuing to employ the registrant. Officers have also been reported to inform other employees that if a registrant receives a promotion, raise, or any protection from workplace harassment, coworkers can simply raise concerns by mentioning the person’s sex-offender status, which typically results in swift disciplinary action or termination for the registrant.

Had to deal with this attack on my sanity 5 times now. It affects everyone’s performance at work because it is so unsettling to figure out who has to do what to compensate, while dealing with figuring out what needs to be done, if it’s real or not.

The employers definitely have a lawsuit because the State’s actions are causing business performance problems by publicly listing PFR workplace info.

Ok we have said all along that we believe someone working for the sheriff’s office is doing this. Before we said they had our phone #’s of those like me whose numbers are NOT listed publicly. Now they know where we work? We have to report where we work so someone on the INSIDE is getting this info and scamming us. Prove me wrong with another theory please.

Don’t always agree with you Cherokee, but this time it sure seems to indicate that these scammers have access to non-public information.

        FAC

Thanks for having my back, at least sometimes LOL

My Mom doesn’t always agree with me either, but I love her and I love FAC all the same even when both of you scold me HAHA 🙂

I do not try and post false info and most of the time I have proof of what I am saying, but yes, some of it is my opinions, and some will agree with me, and some won’t. The earth will still spin either way.
I also appreciate FAC finally got rid of or toned down on allowing the haters to come and stir us up. We already know people hate us; we don’t need to run off good people in here so thanks for nipping that in the tush.

I, too, have realized this on my own! Funny, I just posed this very question to others on the all4cosolaws.org site.

The harassment is absolutely coming from within the Law Enforcement department.
The info the caller relayed over the phone was personal info that only the police or someone similarly situated could possibly know from reading non-public files.

When you call to report it, you’re more of a joke than before you called.

They refuse to take the report and tell you if you don’t like it, then block the number.

Police will never help a PFR or member of their family.

So many times we have tried to get help from the police, and since PFR are not human by the very provisions of the registry, they figure not only do they not have to help us, but they can abuse us as well!

The windshields were smashed on every family member’s car at our home. Breakline cut on 2 separate occasions, family members hit by thrown rocks, and then there’s the death threats.

Oh, and let’s not leave out the corrupt district attorney who decided to change a legal address to get a “failure” conviction!

They are ALL in on the BS!

We will NEVER get it to stop because the only ones who could make it stop are the very ones behind it!

FAC-3 >> I was thinking the same thing, it’s an inside job. I’ve not had any calls but I know my stuff is not online.

I just went and checked the public-facing registry page to make sure. And you are right. Employer is not publicly listed. So it must be an inside job, it seems.

Sorry, CherokeeJack, but employer data are available to the public. If you go to the main Sex Offender Registry page and click the More box in the upper righthand corner, and then choose FL Registry Downloads, there is a link for the Employment Address Data File that allows you to download all employer data by county or by the entire state. Also, OffenderWatch.com gets all of your registration data from FDLE and provides it to their subscribers.

        Sorry Rayo

I have not worked in over 16 years so tell me how they got my info to try and scam me? The sheriffs office is doing this or an employee. I use to work in Law enforcement and this guy who called me knew everything about me and even called my father at their house to get him to convince me this a real situation where I need to pay up.
I offered the so called deputy (who knew ALL the inside lingo) to meet me at the sheriffs office inside and I will bring the money. He argued with me that it had to be in person and I said “Have a blessed day” and ended the call. 10 minutes later they called my parents stating I was going to Jail. My dad drove over to make sure I was ok and I said I hope to Hell you did not give them any money and he had not.
Never heard back from the guy and when I called the sheriff’s office, they said it was a scam. But this guy had WAY too much knowledge of law enforcement and the lingo, how he sounded, authority vibed throughout his spiel without missing a beat or stepping over a word. If I had not know better, I would have fallen for it. In fact, it was F.A.C warning us about it years ago that led me to know it was all a B.S scam.
The first thing to do is call your office you register at police or sheriffs and ask them if it is real and secondly if you cannot do that, have them meet you in the public lobby of the department in front of REAL law enforcement and I bet 100% of the time no one shows up because it is a scam.

And before you think I am being mean, yes it sounds real and understand why this could happen. But my experience as a former L.E.O and the wisdom from FAC let me know this is not how they do that. Any money owed for registering would be handled at the registry office. Even when I was on probation, the probation officer was not allowed to take my monthly fee, I had to do that in the probation office with the clerk.

Don’t always agree with many people but listen to anyone who is trying to help solve things. Now the information 2 years ago that was given to me about myself was very private information. Some of my background is still sealled and some of that was referenced to try and get me to believe the scam. It was very real and scary for my family. I would say someone who at least has access. Remember not all who register or work on the online portal are sheriff some are civilians. 3 more months back to colorado never got scammed there

    IMPORTANT!
If you call, DO NOT threaten, intimidate or harass! You could gain a criminal charge.

But, you could say something like, “I just wanted to send love from the entire registrant community” or something else sort of “cute”. I’m sure they would understand the message.

Last time they did this by saying we had a warrant or we didn’t register, I called the FDLE for help and their response was “There is nothing we can do”. I told them, why can’t you set up a sting where we go and meet them and law enforcement can be hiding and appear once the transaction of so called fees were paid. They told me, again, sorry but nothing we can do but you can make a police report at your local law enforcement location.
The police reports are not worth the paper they are written on if nothing is going to be done, which is exactly why the scammers keep coming, they know law enforcement (Who is probably behind this) isn’t going to help us or even care two cents worth. We are on our own, other than our warriors behind F.A.C. warning us or getting this info from those who have fallen victim of these by reporting it to our great community.
If this happened before we had F.A.C, we would really not what to do. I don’t fall for these scams because I told the last fake deputy he would have to arrest me because I am more broke than a two-legged kitchen table.

All it takes is one phone call to get someone fired for doing absolutely nothing.

        Grown folks talking here>>

Unfortunately that is exactly what they are trying to do is to get us fired so we can’t work an then we might be forced to move. I had a Sgt screaming at me to move out of her state. I mean screaming at me right in the Sheriff Dept. “Move out of my state” I was like I’m NEVER moving now! It’s been a wild ride.
