Sex offender in Wellington, UT stabbed 17 times

A Wellington father was arrested and faces a charge of attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed a registered sex offender 17 times after he allegedly made comments his minor daughter.

The victim, who wasn’t identified, was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors say they determined he had been stabbed 17 times. Officers spoke to the victim, who stated that he didn’t know the name of his attacker but that he had met him several days earlier at the post office.

Officers identified the alleged attacker, Thad James Gurule, and contacted him at his home, where he admitted to assaulting the man because he allegedly made comments about Gurule’s daughter. Gurule told detectives that he did an internet search on the victim and discovered that he was a registered sex offender. Investigators say Gurule walked over to the victim’s apartment, asking him if he wanted to go for a walk for some food.

Keep Thad Gurule locked up without bail/bond until his trial. Sentence him to the hardest time there is preferably in solitary confinement 23 hours a day. No visitation, no phone calls, nothing!

      No Hope

Hard to believe someone could even survive that many stabbings. Seems the Man above was helping him live. Guess it depends where he was stabbed at. Had to have lost a lot of blood. Hope and pray he recovers. And as a bonus, hopes he gets a lawyer and sues for damages. Life in prison is a start.

Another point is that it was a stabbing—not a gunshot, not a baseball bat, but a stabbing. Stabbing is a very powerful, very personal form of attack, and 17 times at that. This person was filled with government-induced, registry-born mental illness and violent rage. The government, as the creator of the sex offender registry, is culpable and should be on trial here, not just the perpetrator.
This isn’t a one-off. There are far too many recorded instances of violence, rape, murder, and assault stemming from individuals becoming unstable and using the registry as a hunting license—a tool to act out their violent fantasies in real time. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of recorded instances.
The fact that the government and the Supreme Court refuse to recognize this, and rather than correcting the evil, continue to double down and multiply it, should be telling to anyone who is paying attention.

I’m calling bullshit on this narrative. There’s no evidence the victim ever said or did anything to anyone’s daughters. This was a premeditated, targeted assault on a man solely because he is a registered sex offender.
This was not a spontaneous act of rage or a “heat of the moment” reaction. The perpetrator stalked his victim with clear intent and planning:

He looked up the victim’s name and address using the registry.
He actively tracked him down online and in person.
He devised a deliberate plan to lure and attack him.

This wasn’t vigilante justice; it was a calculated attack by a predator who had the time, motivation, and opportunity — enabled and emboldened by a government-run public shaming registry that effectively paints a target on people’s backs, even though many argue it’s unconstitutional and serves no legitimate public safety purpose. The state created the list, and people like this use it as a hunting license.

Just like the Minnesota case where the father murdered a PFR with Moses antlers and turned out to be falsely claiming the victim was stalking his daughter. Here we have a methed out tweaked who claims that this victim said something about his daughter. The registry is just tool for insane people to act on their bloodlust.

The punitive nature of the sex offender registry is not accidental—it is intentional. Thirty years of accumulated evidence clearly shows that the registry is not a neutral tool like a Costco membership card; it does not effectively protect the public, serves no legitimate preventive purpose, and instead causes severe collateral harm to registrants, their families, and their friends. The evidence of its ineffectiveness and destructiveness is overwhelming and has been consistently ignored. Therefore, punishment—not public safety—has always been its true purpose.

He wanted to protect his daughter so much that he was willing to not see her because of going to prison? Seems he doesn’t know what logic means. He chose his destiny.

Vigilantes will make up any BS story in order to justify attacking people for no reason. We need to take whatever measures we have to to protect ourselves.

Well even if the guy did make those comment, stabbing the guy didn’t do either one of them a favor. One almost died, the other hopefully is going to prison. I mean I would protect my kids as well but if it was just words, move on and get away from the person or if the comments were sexual in nature, simple call the police and have the child what was said. Sometimes people make stuff up.

My opinion is he already knew the guy was an offender and that is why he went after him. Get the child if they are capable to tell truthfully what the registrant said to her. And even if the guy did say something inappropriate, stabbing him even once would not be legal if there was no actual threat.
