Shunned wherever he goes, sex offender greeted by protests in Lincoln
In the short time that Richard Gardner has been out of prison, he has moved to Providence, then to Cranston and now to a small house off Cobble Hill Road in the Saylesville section of Lincoln.
Soon after nightfall Wednesday, the street filled with more than more 40 protesters, many of them accepting an invitation to move onto the snow-covered lawn of Gardner’s neighbor. They shouted toward the sex offender’s front door a short distance away.
The crowd’s various chants, delivered between blasts from a blaring siren device, included “Gardner’s Gotta Go” and “Get out.”
“Get out of town, you creeper,” yelled John Nunes Jr., a 30-year-old security guard.
“There’s no help for you, you piece of … ” someone yelled.
Earlier Wednesday, Stephen Brown, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Rhode Island, said he had made contact with Lincoln’s solicitor Wednesday and was satisfied that the town stands ready to enforce ordinances to protect the rights of Gardner and also the rights of protesters.
“We obviously disagree with the message,” Brown said, referring to the message of the protest. “We believe Mr. Gardner should have the right to live where he wants and to do so in peace. He served his time. It’s unfortunate to see some of the activity that undermines the whole goal of rehabilitation once someone is released from prison.”

This is exactly what the registry is for so why is it even on the news , dumb dumbs. Go report news or change it, Lincoln Nebraska.
Arm yourselves. The govt intends for you to be abused. Thet step on hour lawn shoot them they have shown their intentions to hurt you. A million armed men will be reckoned with…..
When the registry first came out, I saw this all the time around here. Once so many people were on the registry that it was impossible to protest everyone, it seemed to die down. That is why I never live anywhere where there is a home owners association.
Then they came out with nextdoor and problems started back up again. After the nextdoor flyers went out in my neighborhood more and more people give me dirty looks as they drive past my house. They stare at me like they think they will catch me in the act of abuse right on the front porch.
I do not have facebook but someone told me a while back that there was a group that meets on there to go troll people on the registry and make their lives miserable.
This is who registries and banishment laws were intended for— someone who has been a serial sexual assaulter and kidnapper of small children who were strangers to him, but with whom he shared physical proximity.
Not only Gardner’s former victims but 900,000 registrants and their families must suffer due to people like Gardner.
never seen in the constitution where registries and banishment laws were created for him. humm and if thats your thinking since drunks like ron book have a very high recidivism rate and have injured and killed more children and adults then all other criminals combined i would think you would be in town square yelling for a hit list for them opps but ohh wait…
actually think about what you said, “registries and banishment laws ” so Ummm “registries and banishment laws ” are ok for others but not for you well ummm others like the drunk driver ron book think the same about you!!! so where does it end????
this has gone to far just like KKK did
