Up here in Tallahassee/Leon Florida Department of Corrections office of Community Supervision Parole/Probation doing telephone calls to all Parolees and Probationers so all physical monthly appointments at the office are cancelled until further notice.

I attached this PDF to an email that I just sent to Governor Ron DeSantis.
One major flaw. If they go to online registrations, homeless people are sure to be arrested since they have little or no chance of accessing a computer since even libraries have been closed.
Most homeless do not have cell phones or at least any with internet.
Just saying, I like the idea but it could back fire on those who cannot comply due to no access to the internet. (Did I miss something that addressed that?)
Highly doubt they will all together outright suspend registrations but perhaps they will make some changes. Are the courts even still open to hear cases? I know this is just a proposal.
Where do you get your statistic that “most homeless don not have cell phones or at least any with internet”? I don’t believe that is correct.
I guess it has been a long time since I was homeless then. I mean many of the homeless I see beg for money then spend on it beer instead of the food they said they wanted because they were starving. YES I get to delegate what the money goes to if they say they need food.
My point is, if they have to beg for money, Who in the Hell is paying for a cell phone? I do not even have a cell phone, I just cannot afford it with not being able to work and living with my parents.
You have challenged me now. I am going to ride my bike around and poll every homeless person and ask them if they own a cell phone. ( They will probably tell me to *uck off )
And it was not a statistic, it just seems to reason most homeless people do not even have an address to get a bill for a cell phone or usually extra money for that expense. I guess the homeless have “Come up” if they now have phones.

Now the challenge is to get this information to the people who can do something about it.
I have sent a copy of this to some of the state newspapers.
It would be nice if FAC or a knowledgeable member could provide the membership with all of the email addresses of the major news media in Florida. I would except I am not all that aware of the Florida news media organizations. I am a ‘pain in the neck’ regular with the Orlando Sentinel…liberal ‘rag’ that it is. I would love to ‘share the wealth’.

“[email protected]” I have had several printed, however, I knew that when I sent some of them there was no way they would print them…much too politically incorrect.
In addition, we are looking for a volunteer who is willing to find the contact information for news media outlets in Florida. The lists that I have seen from FAC contain a lot of outdated emails because we have not found someone who has the time to update them. I have acquired some on my own as I try to contact certain outlets.
I have also found at the media websites, many (but not all) make it difficult to obtain email addresses — phone numbers are easier to get.
Having such an updated list of emails would be wonderful.
Captain Munsey, give me a couple of days to organize what I have, and I will post it. I agree that it would be good if members had a list to easily get their hands. Think what might happen if 200 people were to bombard a media outlet all at the same time.

‘irons in the fire’ that it is tough for me to find the time. I would love to get that information into my email address book. I am planning to hit the governor soon about Florida’s registry. It’s time the government of Florida gets its head out of the ‘up and locked’ position on a useless registry.
I just read your letter to DeSantis concerning the registry. If he is not moved by your letter, then there is absolutely nothing that will make that man change his mind, and he has a heart of stone. Thank you for writing to him. Job well done.
Captain Munsey and others, I am sending my contact info to FAC to see how it can be displayed. It is a hodge podge for sure. If anyone has more contact emails, I hope they will post them, too, so that we can add them to our lists.
This is good information, thank you for sharing it on the site. As of now, does anyone know what the out come of registration is in Broward County. The court is shut down and so is the Probation Office, where it was redirected to register. I sent E-mails to FDLE and the Governor, with no replies except from FDLE. FDLE advised still to register at the Ft. Lauderdale Probation Office, which is closed and the phone numbers are no responsive.
BROWARD COUNTY – has moved registration to 540 SE 3rd Ave Ft Lauderdale. ( by probation)
If you have issues or need to speak with someone call the Control room at 954 831 7330 and leave a message and request a call back. The old number will not work.
Broward is continuing in person registration and the hours are Monday thru Friday 8 to 3:30

Why not post the text of the guidelines within the actual message so that people don’t have to click on it (which involves recording and tracking their IP address and a known vulnerability where MailChimp has been used to pass on malware).
This MAY be perfectly legitimate but, my 40+ years of IT experience has taught me to be extremely cautious about this kind of link.
