Suspect came to Lubbock to ‘kill a child molester,’ court records say

A witness told detectives that Joseph Barrera, 25, went to Lubbock to “kill a child molester that lived in the neighborhood,” court documents obtained by EverythingLubbock.com on Friday revealed.

Police were called to the 5000 block of 38th Street around 11:08 p.m. on July 15. Officers arrived and found Richard Paul, 61, with a single gunshot wound and pronounced dead at the scene.

Another witness told detectives that Barrera said he was in Lubbock to babysit for a family member, but said the actual purpose was to “kill a child molester that lived in the neighborhood,” court documents stated.

Texas has the death penalty. If convicted in court he’s earned himself strapped to the table at Huntsville Unit for a date with a lethal injection.

    Nuff said!

P.S. Everything posted here is publicly verifiable through standard historical records—no AI assistance required. 🙂 Also not all inclusive.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: don’t pretend shock. Don’t perform surprise. This is simply the system working exactly as it was designed to work. Nothing has changed. The historical record is clear: the architects of the registry knew precisely what they were building and why.

Let’s take a brief historical tour of moral registries and see exactly which illustrious nations America—the “home of the free”—keeps company with. The parallels may clarify America’s true intent.

    Rwanda, 1933
Belgian colonial authorities issued identity cards that explicitly classified every citizen by ethnicity: Hutu, Tutsi, or Twa. When the 1994 genocide began, these same registration cards were wielded at roadblocks to systematically identify, sort, and execute Tutsis.

    South Africa, 1950
The Population Registration Act mandated that every citizen be classified and recorded on a national register as White, Bantu (Black), Coloured, or Asian. This registry governed every dimension of human existence—where one could live, work, or travel. It enforced forced removals (such as District Six), stripped millions of citizenship rights, and systematically repressed the non-white majority.

    Nazi Germany, 1930s–1940s
Registration lists, specialized censuses, and punch-card data tabulation managed by municipal offices and the Gestapo cross-referenced church and state records with race-based questionnaires. These administrative tools isolated, dispossessed, concentrated, and murdered six million Jews alongside Romani people, the disabled, and political dissidents.

    Ottoman Empire, 1915–1923
Centralized population registers (Nüfus), military and tax tracking files, and targeted deportation orders enabled the Interior Ministry to coordinate the systematic arrest, localized uprooting, and death marches of Armenian and Assyrian Christian populations.

The pattern is administrative before it is lethal. The registry precedes the reckoning and there is always a horrific inhumane reckoning. These aren’t my words, they are history. Forget history repeat history. Historical patterns should be a warning. Expect what will happen next.

Why doesn’t this surprise me ¿?

There’s idiots like this everywhere and the sad part is we have no way to defend ourselves other than to rely on the police who probably don’t give a ?¿?¿ anyway ¡!¡

Had a psychotic roommate who had me barricaded in my room once. Took the cops 47 minutes after I called 911 to get here. And they did nothing but talk. Even after I claimed an “assault on the elderly ” situation. ( I was 72 at the time)

Fortunately, landlord arrived and had psychotic “baker acted”.

More vigilantism, even more reason why we should have our gun rights restored.

While I don’t agree with the way he went about, many people like him probably were a victim of a child molester and therefore HATES all child molesters and rapist. UNFORTUNATELY, YOURE GOING TO SEE MORE AND MORE OF THIS AND I HOPE THIS WILL SERVE AS A DETERANT TO OTHERS WHO ARE THINKING ABOUT HARMING CHILDREN AND OTHERS IN THIS WAY. BTW IM A VICTIM OF THE SAME ASSAULTS AS A CHILD BY 3 DIFFERENT PEOPLE AT 3 DIFFERENT TIMES IN MY LIFE. BUT SOMETHING LIKE HE DID ID NEVER DO UNLESSS I CATCH SOMEONE IN THE ACT OF HARMING SOMEN IN THIS FASHION. IN FLORIDA THERE IS AN IMMUNITY CLAUSE IN THE LAW THAT WOULD PROTECT ME FROM GETTING JAILED BASED ON THE SEVERITY OF THE SITUATION. Florida Statute 776.012(2) says:
You may use deadly force if you reasonably believe it is necessary to prevent:

      imminent death,

      great bodily harm, or

the imminent commission of a forcible felony.

And you do NOT have a duty to retreat.

RAPE OF A CHILD IS A “FORCIBLE FELONY” UNDER FLORIDA LAW
Florida Statute 776.08 defines “forcible felony.”

      It includes:

      Sexual battery

      Lewd or lascivious molestation

      Lewd or lascivious battery

      Kidnapping

      Aggravated child abuse

Any felony involving the use or threat of physical force

So if someone is sexually assaulting a child, you are legally stopping a forcible felony.

That activates 776.012 and Stand Your Ground.

Florida strengthened laws for sexual crimes against minors under:

      F.S. 794.011 (Sexual Battery)
F.S. 800.04 (Lewd or Lascivious Acts)
      Key points:

✔ Sexual battery on a child under 12
      Punishable by life.
Considered one of the most severe felonies in Florida.

✔ Lewd or lascivious molestation of a child under 12
      Also punishable by life.

✔ ANY sexual act against a child under 16
      Is a forcible felony.

Florida Legislature has repeatedly amended these statutes to increase penalties and remove leniency.

      This matters because:

Stopping a life‑punishable felony = legally justified deadly force if necessary.

Calm down. No one on this forum is at risk of harming a child.

You have no cause for use of deadly force and are going to get yourself arrested if you continue down this path.

If you really want to prevent sexual assault of children, embrace solutions that work. Not violent fantasies.

Well at least we know that you advocate for violence. In the past you have said you would actively tell neighbors if someone was on the registry. You are going further and further down the rabbit hole. You seem like the type who actively hunts for “sex offenders” to make their lives a living hell. I hope FAC searches you IP address and reports you to the police and or starts an investigation against you. Final note. not everyone on here and on the registry is on there for child molestation.

I highly doubt killing someone is justified if you catch a 15 year old and her older boyfriend together.

That isn’t even close to what happened in this situation.

        There was nothing actively happening.

        It was premeditated, planned murder.

My autistic son is on the registry for pictures, mostly fragments of files that he had deleted after download, some before they finished downloading. He didn’t create them or distribute them. Yet he’s treated as if he did something to someone.

Getting forced to register makes him a target for some vigilante/mental case who thinks they have a right to play God, jury, judge, and executioner. Only a psychopath would do that.

I was abused by an older cousin for around three years till I was around 11, maybe 12 which time I became aware it wasn’t “proper” and told him no more. That was the end of it.

When I was 16, a teacher made advances. He had made advances with a previous girl in his previous school. It was a church school institution. They would just move teachers to new schools whenever these things happened.

After I was sent to boarding school, he apparently targeted another girl. He was sent packing again. And his wife divorced him somewhere in there. It happened again at his next school.

He was eventually relieved of teaching and went to work in the tech field. I heard around 20 years ago he was teaching some sort of night classes to adults, had remarried and had two more kids.

I am by no means saying it’s ok to abuse kids. I would never say that. I still don’t feel like a victim. It didn’t make me a psychotic judgmental, condemning murderer. I fully innerstand it’s not my place to judge anyone else because everyone has current and past life traumas that must be resolved in their soul growth journey.

Until one is perfected, literally no one has the right to judge, condemn and punish others. Only a truly disconnected spiritually depraved psychopath thinks that’s their job. The opportunists have appointed themselves those roles that have been a huge source of revenue for them as they keep finding new ways to enslave humanity.

In my research, I have found that there are thousands of autistic people forced to register. Think about it…manufactured registry revenue.

        They know what they’re doing.

        “It’s just business”.

I also do not support nor condone child molestors but I also dont support muerderers. One is not better than the other, nor does either justify each other.. I would like to mention that justifying murder because “possibly was molested” is as ridiculous as justifying “molestation” because “may have been molested”.

Mr. D, your comment give more context for why you feel so strongly on this issue. I hope you received justice for the harm that you experienced and that you can move beyond it eventually and not let it dominate you as much as it appears to do today.

That brings up another facet to this issue: the fact that some victims later act out. That was my situation. I was emotionally damaged from what I experienced until I got saved. Unfortunately, it was only after I repeated the cycle. Vigilantes probably never consider when the go hunting for street justice. Even more damning to their “righteous” claims of getting street justice for victims – the only person who could demand more justice from me is the person I harmed (a family member), and we have been reconciled for 10 years. Let that sink in before you automatically assume that all offenders should be wiped off the face of the earth.

On the lengthy explanation you gave about when it is legal and appropriate to use deadly force to stop a violent crime, you are absolutely right, and I think if someone is being seriously harmed, stopping it by any legal means is appropriate.

Truly, however, that is not the problem this article is bringing to light. People who are decades offense-free are being targeted and hunted down randomly. That is not justice by any rational definition, and it should be prevented or severely punished, preferably before they have a chance to inflict the harm they so desire on others.

    That’s nothing unusual.

the guy that tried to kill me in October,
got his judgment the other day from the court,
so he’ll be tied up for a while
