Texas Registrant Forced to Post Sign at Home
A Texas pastor who plead guilty to possessing child pornography was handed an unorthodox sentence. In addition to the probation and other “sex offender conditions” he will have to serve, the court ordered that he post a sign at his residence saying, “A person on probation for a child sex offense lives here.”
The man is responsible for paying for and maintaining the sign, which must be at least 16 inches tall and 32 inches wide, made from weather-proof and reflective material and have lettering at least 2 1/2 inches high. Much like a traffic sign.
In Bradford County, Florida, the Sheriff’s office posts their own signs at the residences of sexual predators, but in this case, the man has to pay for it himself and purchase it from one of a list of State endorsed vendors.
There is no evidence that posting signs at residences has contributed to public safety.

What else are they going to come up with for a sex offender. They pull these things out of the air and without one fear of worrying it may withstand a challenge. How many other signs have you seen for a Arsonist, or for one who murdered a child in there life. It’s open season on us, I haven’t seen one sign on a person home convicted of being a Drug Dealer, How many hundreds or kids have they harmed, how many families have they harmed, or even killed. What about the impact on American Life, how far reaching are they. “COME ON, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH NOW”
I feel like once you serve your time just like anyone else you should be done no more hassle drug dealers use drugs to get people hooked then when they can’t pay they take sex for pay no matter the age of the person but authorities don’t treat them like bad people sex offenders have less repeat offenders than any crime because they are marked for life it’s wrong God is the one that everyone will report to in the end so society will reap what it sows by targeting sex offenders like they do
@ Gerald,No the Sex offender registry is another form of segregation. What it was for others it is now for us. As you can see Justices are getting on the track on speaking out about it.I give it five years some of these laws would be stuck down only if people start fight back
The sign might as well say ” feel free to judge me and commit vigilantism upon me ” Ridiculous !!!
That’s the reality of sex offender registries. Vigilantes don’t even need signs to find their prey. The public registry does it for them. I remember watching TV out of Minnesota when I was in a prison in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The local news would show the photo and address of any registered sex offender that moved into a new neighborhood. Yet I’m sure that if an offender had been murdered by someone who saw that report, the TV people would blame the offender, implying that he got what he deserved.
