US government commends Philippines for preventing 200 American registered sex offenders from entering.
The United States government has commended the Bureau of Immigration (BI) for preventing 200 American registered sex offenders (RSOs) from entering the Philippines in 2018.
Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said Friday the bureau was recently awarded a certificate of commendation by the US Embassy in Manila after registering the second highest number of excluded American RSOs throughout the world last year.
Mexico, which shares a land border with the US in the southwest, recorded the highest number of intercepted RSOs.
“I commend our officers deployed at our ports of entry for a job well done. Because of your vigilance and alertness, you were able to turn away these sex offenders to protect fellow Filipinos from possible exploitation,” Morente said in a statement.
The US Embassy’s citation specifically commended the BI’s port operations division (POD) as well as the airport operations section (AOS), travel control and enforcement unit (TCEU), and border control and enforcement unit (BCIU), which are all under the POD, for successfully implementing the “Angel Watch” program in the country’s ports.

Just a bunch of lackeys for the U.S. It is pathetic indeed. I thought the U.S is not suppose to impede or interfere with travel. Seems like they have their lap dogs doing it for them without them getting their hands dirty sort to speak.
Wow…2nd place in the World Stupid Contest. I wonder how many families were left at the airport with tears in their eyes as a result of this accomplishment.
I want to ask a question here…. just supposing you traveled to offend against a child, if you were unwilling to face the consequences in a US prison, why would you risk a stay in a 5 bar hotel in a 3rd world?
I had a 37th wedding anniversary to Costa Rica and it went that way. My wife of 37 years and I spent the night on
the floor of the airport terminal. I looked at Puerto Rica and we booked our flight to Costa Rica. My bad. I have since let my USpassport expire rather than take “the mark” in yet another way. The depth and breadth of our freedom is not freedom, it is containment in a cage in which we can see the world we desire to visit but are stopped by bars sometimes too thin to be seen. We have chosen to stay “home” and enjoy the US.
We will never win with the argument for ourselves they don’t care it’s not about right or wrong it’s about making victims feel like they’re being Avenged the true victims in all these situations like you were saying is third-party the people who have not offended the people who have chosen to accept us and love us regardless of our faults people with forgiveness in your hearts they’re being told they don’t have a right to choose you that’s the only argument that can be made that they will listen to I travel to the Philippines about 3 years ago and was turned around in Manila my girlfriend at that time was dying to see me we’ve been together for 3 years since then our relationship is falling apart I wonder which to justice for her she had no choice to let me go why hold on to something you can never be with tell me again the argument for ourselves and justices Double Jeopardy none of that will mean anything to them they just sit and laugh because that’s what they want but the real argument is how can you offend an innocent person how can you choose for them who they want to be with what about the collateral damage to them
Actually the Philippines is one the largest sex trafficking places in the world.that’s because the USA is no longer land of the free so the American flag does not have the meaning it once had… USA is just one big prison.. that’s all it is… I used to love being called an American now being called an American is a disgrace to me I deny it every chance I can. I just tell people I’m stuck here for now.. the country has gone down the drain.. I mean federal laws aren’t even same as state laws. Take weed for example. Still illegal federally and yet legal states. That’s one good example. I can keep on going if you want me to. USA is a trash can now it’s gone down hill. Also USA don’t care about families it’s all a joke then I mean state I’m in alone one the highest states for taking children from homes and a lot over stupid stuff. Then want to talk about homeless and orphans and children going foster homes and yea it’s a joke just like rest there laws.. they are hipocritical. That’s like a cop can shoot someone what’s he get slap wrist yet we do we go jail. This country is broken and has been for a very long time and it’s just getting worst. Yes I know I went a little off topic but in end it all rolls out to how screwed up system and country is.. USA is a toxic place live now and first chance I get move countries I’m taking it. I don’t consider myself an American anymore not with it being this broken…
Ok I started make comment before sex trafficking was to another comment not for this statement I wrote
Is there any way to get some accurate statistics as to what percentage of those on the registry are actually a danger to anyone else. That is the kind of statistics we need. But of coarse politicians don’t want that because they know that would pull they rug out from under there popularity scam there putting over on everyone.
Actually, if you look up recidivism rates for sex offenders on google, it shows that the majority of sex offenders are first timers. Of those first time offenders, most dont reoffend and those that do, commit a different crime. There is a small portion that commit another sexual offense. If you compare that to someone who commits murder, the rate is much higher. So the numbers are out there. It just doesn’t fit the narrative of being tough on crime or victim justice or whatever.
Security theater at its finest.
I sure am glad that I’m living in a time where we’re making America great again.
It’s not quite fake news— after all, its conventional to refer to former convicted sex offenders, nearly all of whom must register, as simply, “sex offenders.”
But it’s an insult to the intelligence of the public to suggest that these actions will in any way protect anyone from exploitation.
Children in the Philippines and elsewhere will continue to be exploited by foreigners during this travel ban. And it will be a source of national embarassment, shame, and befuddlement— as in “I don’t get it, we already passed laws preventing this, why aren’t they working?”
How soon will RTAG contact the US embassy in Manila about this silliness?
Sooo pathetic…., no words…
Outrageous that our own Uncle Sam pressures foreign countries like this.
So the United States goal is to not allow the RSO freedom to travel.
Congratulations U.S. Government for separating families and denying civil and human rights to 200 people who have served their time and want nothing more than to do what others are allowed to do see the world. My nephew is getting married in Jamaica this summer I had to tell my sister I won’t be able to attend my wife and kids will be going without me. Image how hard it was for me to explain to my nephew I’m being punished for something that happened more than a decade ago
Can an American SO already on probation be allowed to travel to the Philippines. i case for a decade ago
If someone is on probation, they must ask for permission to leave the county I believe. So leaving the country would probably not be allowed.
