The YMCA bans persons required to register as sex offenders, but how has that worked out for them?

The Fulton County YMCA, in Johnstown, New York was just hit with a $10,000,000.00 lawsuit. A 19 year old former employee was charged with raping an underage girl in the locker room

In Wichita, Kansas a 31 year old former employee allegedly sexually assaulted three teenage girls this month. The same Y had another instance of sexual assault last year.

The YMCA recently enacted a policy barring all persons required to register as sexual offenders from their facilities and revoking the membership of many long-time members after discovering a sexual offense in their history. They do sex offender screenings of all members, guests and employees.

So how has that policy worked out for them? Obviously not very good… neither of the alleged offenders at these Ys were on the registry.

It’s NOT people on the registry committing sex offenses!

You mean they created an illusion to make it appear like a “safer than other places” place and people fell for it? Then, what they pretended to be protecting their members from happened anyway? No way! That’s so rare (extreme sarcasm).
I keep saying: Pay closer attention to the people putting these nonsense rules that don’t work in place. They’re either trying to cover something up or trying appear as something they’re not. There’s no other for why anybody would ignore logic and/or reality.

The word “Christian” was long ago abandoned by the YMCA.

Well, Cap’n, in both cases, the victims were female, so apparently “men” was also dropped from their organization’s primary focus. Now, if instead of banning Registrants, they returned to all male membership ….. no female assaults would occur b/c there would be no females around to be assaulted. Problem solved?? Maybe it’s just vitriol, but I hope Victim #1 wins her $10 million dollar lawsuit. Then what? I do HAVE an answer: female only staffing at YMCAs nationwide. Problem solved!! No potential-perpetrator men anywhere around! Young No-Men Christian Association. 🤔

I can’t help but wonder what happened to the YWCA? It seems that if women don’t like what their organizations are doing they ‘invade’ men’s organizations…i.e. Boy Scouts, now just Scouts. I knew when they started putting women aboard ships, especially submarines, there would be problems and sure enough there are. It’s almost as though it’s a conspiracy to destroy long established organizations. If women are as efficient at their work as they claim they are, why not give them their own organizations and ships, and thus avoid disruptive happenings that can destroy the lives of both men and women? The commanding officer of a ship has enough to concentrate on as to the war fighting capability of the command and doesn’t need disruptive ‘he’ing and she’ing’ problems. Like a recruiter told me one day when I stopped by for a quick visit…I told him I had 29 years experience and wanted to know if I could join. He looked up at me and said…”You wouldn’t want to be in today’s Navy!”

“How could this be happening? Don’t we already bar sex offenders? Huh.”

    Recently???
I seem to recall them banning sex offenders organization-wide circa 2003 (?)
I remember seeing it on the evening news and being ticked off by it. And this was years before I was a person required to register.

The Y and other institutions make the mistake of viewing public registries as a government-sanctioned identification of who is unsafe. It is cheaper and easier to flag registrants than it is to, say, educate and train people in sexual abuse prevention. The false sense of security provided by registries results in more crime, not less.

It’s also known as “security theatre.”
Aside from the s.o. registries our government has another large scale farce that you can take part in at every major airport.
For further information on security theater watch “Adam ruins everything: Adam ruins security.” Netflix has it as episode 2.
It lines up well with the content of this Ymca article.

YMCA. JCA. How long before the slippery slope makes it illegal for a registered citizen to eat at a Chik FIL A or McDonald because they have a play area. Or go to the mall because they have a play area?? We know one has nothing to do with the other. Could you imagine if Film maker tried to make a movie like Pretty Baby, the one Brooke Shields was in as a preteen sex object in today’s society? I know disconnected thoughts but somehow still relevant. The registry is worthless feel good legislation nothing more
