U.S. Sentencing Commission proposed amendments to the federal sentencing guidelines

The U.S. Sentencing Commission voted to publish for comment proposed amendments to the federal sentencing guidelines, including a proposal concerning how sentencing courts determine if a prior conviction is a “crime of violence” under the guidelines.

    In 2012, the Commission ripped the Guidelines for sex offenses under section 2G2.2 as too emperically flawed and scolded Congress to take action with a suggestion that the Commission could change the Guidelines under it’s own authority. Today, section 2G2.2 remains the same. So I’m sceptical that the Commission will do anything favorable to our cause.

      I have the same question. Not sure many laypersons can make sense of an 89-page document written in legalese and referencing multiple US codes.
