Unnecessary shaming: Identifying shooting victim as a registrant

A tragic murder-suicide took place in Cape Coral, Florida this week.

A mother shot her dog, her son and then herself. Neither her nor her son survived. The news media couldn’t help but identify the victim as a sex offender, even though that was completely irrelevant to the tragedy.

Didn’t you know it’s alright to shoot someone if there on the sex offender registry.
A family member needs to sue the state for causing such undue stress , as to cause this woman to go to such extremes.

This is such a sad situation. But a good example how the Registry can devastate a family. I don’t know what the situation actually was that caused a Mother to take her Son’s life then her own but it may be that the hopelessness of the situation was more then she could handle and possibly her Son felt the same way. Maybe her Son had no way to make an income and Mother had to pay for everything. Health, food, shelter etc. Sounds like the Son had been in trouble several times. I don’t know anything about his situation but maybe he had an addiction he couldn’t correct. It’s like a person that has an addiction to drugs or alcohol.
We need to abolish the registry and give these folks a chance to redeem their self and to be able to support their self. If their addiction can’t be corrected then why not have special places for them to live and get help. Prison isn’t always the answer. As for the dog. possibly the Mother didn’t want to leave anything behind that would be a burden on anyone. I thank FAC for giving us hope and spirit to fight to change what we know is wrong with the laws that an offender has to live with. This is a stellar example of the devastation a family faces when a loved one is on the registry.

‘They’ should be reporting on the Ft Myers Police Chief who was caught getting a ‘washy-washy’ at an Oriental Spa…it is on Camera!

And, we have YET to hear any further details…the ass-wipe Chief has been on PAID leave……

The fact he is on the registry should be mentioned EVERYWHERE! It Should be shouted from the roof tops..REALLY folks wake up! How many of you have been close to breaking from the draconian tortures?..Who besides me can see a mother that the registry has snapped…. People do you want to bet that the cause, the catalyst for this horrific event was the registry? Forced to live as second class citizens, peeking out their windows every time a car light goes by , or people walk to close.Scared to death everytime they see a uniform or hear a siren that maybe some new unknown law is now ready to haul him back to the prison camps?..Never able to make enough money to keep secure food on the table because the registry keeps him unemployed and unemployable, always worried some new restriction law by a greedy politician that wants their home, will leave him homeless..ect…ect….And mother loses her poor mind and does the only thing she can think of in her fragile state to protect that which she loves from the insane criminal government that has pushed her to far..She takes them as far away from the horror we call government as she can…Its a tragic story that needs to be told not hidden. The government should not be allowed to hide its crimes any longer.
