Utah Sen. Todd Weiler says that all sex offenders are put “in one pot”.
“We tend to kind of group those sex offenders together in the same broad brush category,“ said Sen. Todd Weiler, R-Davis County, who maintained Wednesday during a legislative committee hearing, the circumstances of the criminal acts are often very different.
Weiler, an attorney, cited the examples of an adult who rapes a young child vs. a 23 year old man who has consensual sex with a 17 year old girlfriend. The former, he said should remain on the registry, but seemed to suggest, that after a period of time, not the latter. Weiler also said adults caught in internet stings — in which they thought they were speaking to an underage person, but were really chatting with a police officer — might also be eligible for less time on the registry.
A tinge of common sense, but elimination of the registry would be even more so. Actually common sense is a form of punishment. It’s punishment for those who have it and are required to live among those who don’t.
Anyone notice that the reporter conceded (without knowing it) that the registry is punishment? I quote:
“This is not the first time lawmakers have spoken about reducing punishments for sex crimes.”
You know the saying, “if it quacks like a duck…” Too bad many of those with whom we entrust with our liberties can’t even recognize a ‘duck’ when they see it. Call it duplicity, or willful ignorance, I can’t imagine how they can have the conscience to do what they do to fellow human beings and proclaim that it is not punishment.
What they, and others in society fail to realize, is that this monster of their own making (the registry) may very well devour their own sons and daughters one day. If they proposed laws contemplating how they might want their own children treated if they were to commit these offenses, perhaps they would take pause before participating in the circus that is modern politics.
This whole thing is to make it look like they are earning their keep and presenting the dangers falsely and manipulating the public on these new laws that harm children by arresting their provider for an unregistered car or email that they were unaware of. They should set a group of college students down let them read all the chapters then question them on parts. There is no way 1/2 SO have the capacity and means to keep up with all this. It a trap to make money easily and do so against a group they have already reduced to little means. It’s pretty sick really once it’s all lays out.
Florida says equal protection of the law to everyone. Well unless you are a registered citizen then your fair game for every bully scam artist and thug out there, including the green shirts better known as law enforcement the very ones who are supposed to be seeing to your protection.
The truth is under the United States constitution after any man has served his time he is free period . He is entitled to all rights as any American this mean we sex list gun rights back everything . But every state rights it’s owns laws it own statutes witch the Constitution clearly states vilotes our constitutional rights. I like the ACLU but they gotta get there shit together as well don’t right the ones you can win fight them all . The Constitution clearly states any law or statutes that vilolates the Constitution is not be and void period . And all state courts friggin know this and red tape and fake law you .show them the Constitution they take them to the streets and friggin hang them .for treason . Bet they through all the fake ass law books away. But then I’m native American . My people been killed and had our land taken and there laws given witch they break daily . Why is it so hard to see , read the Constitution live by it . White men how wrote new the government would get power hungry like britan where they came from . This is why the founding fathers said a well regulated military / u know) would keep the government be in check by force if nessary.take them out start a new government . Pretty simple mathematics tells us that we are growing in numbers.
As our numbers grow, our base grows, and we will have more resources (hence, political clout).
Here in Florida (I don’t know about other states) we have been denied the right to vote — why do you suppose that is???
Politicians are starting to realize these sobering facts. They are trying to pare down our numbers.
They are trying to silence (or quieten) our political voice. That is the reason they are giving concessions.
We must try to resist their efforts to divide us.

The city of Chicago thought it was a great idea in the 1960s to build high-rise apartment buildings and place all of the public housing people in one area. As the number of RSOs increase, the housing outside of the ‘safe zones’ will go up in value. There may come a day when residents including parents will refuse to allow a playground to be built near their homes because the value of their house will go down. In my neighborhood the children who live near a park, play at the park, but if they live so far from the park that RSO can live there, instead of the park they play in the parking lot in front of the sexual predator’s house.
Florida legislators please read. The data doesnt support having a registry and as this Republican legislator correctly points out not all RSO’s are the same. The justice system should be about adequate and correct punishment, rehabilitation, and reintegration. Without that process we might as well be put in the areanas like the ancient Romans

I agree keep writing by mail not just fl legislature but to the house too i write about 6 letters aweek to us state to all fl so if others would do too maybe get more things done
