VA: Must Watch: Family of registrant looking for home.

A pleasantly surprising story out of Virginia – a news report about a family with 5 small children who can’t find housing because the father’s 20 year old conviction for a sex offense.

What makes the story pleasantly surprising is that it paints a humane picture of the registrant and even asks the community to help him find housing. It also highlights the harm to the innocent children and family members who are forced into homelessness because of one family member’s history.

The sad truth is that many sex offenders are forced to live apart from their families because of this kind of hateful stuff. Must be even harder for this African American family because now the bigots can legally discriminate against them.

Very good story! It’s a shame that there’s no such thing as fair housing law protection in Floriduh. The focus of the media in Floriduh is to out registered citizens where they work, ensuring they will be fired and unable to find another job. Small-minded politicians work in concert with media to harass and banish registered citizens so they never have a “second chance” that even murderers are offered, to become productive members of society again.

Holy crap! Is this a media outlet actually trying to help a registered sex offender in some tangible way? What was that plea at the end where they ask folks to email in to the station if willing to help out? Have I entered an alternate universe?

This was pure gold. Thanks for the post, FAC. Nice way to start the Christmas season. 🙂

We HIGHLY suggest people who can, drop a line to the station; [email protected] and thank them for the story.
