Walls closing in on Miami-Dade homeless sex offender issue.

I guess someone didn’t let Ron Book’s “Homeless Trust” know about the reprieve, because according to Local10 news, “workers from Miami-Dade’s Homeless Trust arrived Sunday night with police to give the offenders their eighth and final warning.”

In fact, the Deputy Mayor had given assurance to Attorney Jeffrey Hearne from Legal Services of Greater Miami, who had prepared to file an immediate legal challenge to the (now 4th) forced eviction of sex offenders, that enforcement action would not begin until AFTER the 10th, which gives the County some time to consider their options.

In the mean time, as word got out that the County planned to shuffle the couple hundred sex offenders to an intersection in Southwest Miami, protesters from that area already started coming out with signs, objecting to the resettlement of sex offenders in their neighborhood.

Officials still don’t seem to get it. The only way to prevent this from happening again is to kill the ordinance that is causing it.

In the meantime, politicians make ignorant comments, like, Deputy Mayor Maurice Kemp, who said “we even give them rental assistance — up to six months of rental assistance if they can find a compliant address,” That’s like telling a legless man you’ll give him free shoes and then wondering why he doesn’t thank you for them. Rental assistance would be great is there was anyplace for these people to rent!

In the meantime, Ron “conflict of interest” Book is fighting like hell to keep enforcing the ordinance because it’s named after his daughter.

We’ll see how this plays out in the coming days, but it’s looking more and more like its going to be played out in court.

In the 1960’s, Chuck Zink had a children’s morning show on WTVJ (Channel 4 back then, now Channel 6?). One day, he heard the receptionist tell a caller that they did not allow African-American children in the studio audience for his show. Zink was outraged and went straight to Mr. Mitchell Wolfson, the owner of the station and it’s parent company, Wometco Enterprises. Mr. Wolfson told him to do what he thought was right and he would support him. As a result. Royal Castle restaurants, the biggest advertiser on the show, pulled all of their ads. But, at the last minute. Mr. James McLamore, the founder of Burger King, bought all of those ad spots. Anybody been to a Royal Castle restaurant lately? I left Miami in 1998 and don’t have a good feel for how things are done there today, but out sure seems to me that men of honesty and integrity like Zink, Wolfson and McLemore are in short supply in South Florida these days.

What Ron Book (and Channel 4-6-7-10) forgot to mention is that Ron Book is responsible for passing the Legislation that put these people in this predicament in the first place. Ron Book almost looked like he was trying to help. But all of that vital info was “overlooked” as he continues to “double dip” into the getting rid of SO’s, while under the guise of helping them.
2018 elections are coming up. FIRST STEP is get rid of Lauren Book. Second, somehow bring charges up on Ron Book for conflict of interest and crimes against Humanity. (seeing that sex offenders are NOT a class of people)
It is scary to think that both of them live in Broward County. And the chaos they are inflicting on a group of people in Miami-Dade.
When are they going to bring their “Nazi regime” to Broward and try to bully RSO’s out of Broward?

          Really?!? what jerks!
OK – there are a few networks that are airing these stories. The papers too (at least the Herald). See if you can find any and let us know so others can post too.

I just spent the last hour or so looking for the write up on the RSO Camp in the papers. I cant find any.

I called WSVN and asked if the knew about Ron Books “escapades” and double-dipping for the Homeless Trust while trying to make those people in Miami homeless. I asked if they were going to investigate Ron & Lauren Book for creating this problem and then try to make a profit for themselves. I ended with having both charged with Hate Crimes, and crimes against Humanity.

I was met with about 5-10 seconds of silence; then this
“You must be one of those child molesters”.
NONE of what you said is true.

Maybe we can call wsvn and voice what is really going on. Write to Help Me Howard. I dont know…..
I dont want to start no “poop”, either on here, or in the world.

            Then a click—–

Just unreal. Prayers going up for all of those people down there. And c’mon, really?? There are actually people PROTESTING them moving to the middle of a rock quarry a mile away from anything civilized??!! In the Intercept article, I love how it ended. One of the wives of one of the offenders there said that they’re just trying to get the hell out of Florida and that basically it was so crooked here. LOL. I love it!!

In the meantime, what is the average cost for a billboard to be put up?? We should flood the south FL area with huge billboards of pictures of the homeless camp along with huge letters that say “Thank You Ron and Lauren Book!!” And have several billboards with different mantras on them. “People in Africa live better than this!” Or “Ron Book’s lobbying hard at work” etc…. Anyway, I live in north FL in Jax, but if someone down there is willing to start that effort, I’ll contribute what I can financially to it. Just a thought. I mean, if public shaming is good for the goose (Book), then it’s good for the gander (us).

Actually, I’d love to buy a billboard with pics from the camp stating, “Ron and Lauren Book’s Kingdom is a homeless camp in Miami: This is your mess, clean it up!” with a link to my article on the Julia Tuttle Saga, which I’ll now have to rewrite to add the latest insanity. We should buy one closest to Lauren & Ron Book’s corporate office in Aventura and maybe one by the Homeless Trust.

Average cost of a billboard is about $5,000 per month plus design fee plus printing and installation. So $6000+ for the first month and $5000 a month after depending on how premium the location is (cars per day of traffic, etc) . Kind of expensive

Yeah I figured it would be. I wonder if someone like the ACLU would put up the money to sponsor it. But yeah something like this needs to be done. In Broward and Dade counties and right by his offices. Well I’d give what little I could toward the effort if it was started. I wonder if that Jeff hearne guy could help us get one? But the Books need to be publicly shamed for all of this. Damn. Wish I had the money.

Wonder if one can sue the Homeless Trust for emotional trauma. How stressful and frightening it must be to read/hear in the news you have a reprieve, only to then be told within days (with police present) the contrary?

Ron Book must have a large “book” of dirty secrets on the politicians who past this bull shit legislation. Why else would they be doing the devil’s work.

“Maurice Kemp granted a stay of any enforcement action so that the County can “provide clarity” as to what their intended next course of action is. ”

The above statement came directly from the email sent to Attorney Jeff Hearne. The new deadline is now May 10th according to the email.

Is the Deputy Mayor trying to walk back the promise he gave Mr Hearne, or is the Deputy Mayor just trying to look good for the public via the media??

FAC, I’m a bit confused. Isn’t there still a Federal lawsuit pending in the Southern District with Miami Dade’s SORR ? I thought there was a hearing on this in April ?

Yes – there is a federal lawsuit pending concerning the SORR in general
Trial has been pushed to October.

There MAY be a second lawsuit concerning this specific case filed soon.
