Wanted sex offender caught Monday [WITH FAC COMMENTS]

[FAC COMMENT: WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH THESE HEADLINES? DO REPORTERS THINK ALL THEY NEED TO DO IS PUT THE PHRASE ‘SEX OFFENDER’ IN THE HEADLINE AND THEY WILL GENERATE INTEREST EVEN IF IT’S A NON-STORY?]

DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. —

A wanted sexual offender was in jail Tuesday morning in Duval County.

[FAC COMMENT: SO THAT’S HOW THIS STORY BEGINS… WANTED! WANTED FOR…???]

An warrant was issued for Jackie Williams after officers found that he no longer lived at his listed address. A judge signed the warrant for failure to report that he had vacated his permanent address in February.

[FAC COMMENT: …A REGISTRATION VIOLATION?!? SO THE GUY DIDN’T COMMIT ANY NEW CRIME, HE DIDN’T SEXUALLY ASSAULT ANYONE, HE JUST MADE NEWS BECAUSE OF A VIOLATION THAT’S APPARENTLY “CIVIL, NON-PUNITIVE AND REMEDIAL”?]

Officers from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrested Williams Monday afternoon.

[FAC COMMENT: THANK GOD!!! HE COULD HAVE COMMITTED MORE TECHNICAL VIOLATIONS!!!]

Williams told officers that he was kicked out of the home in November and tried to update a detective by leaving a message. However, he said those messages were not returned.

[FAC COMMENT: REGISTRANTS, REMEMBER… YOU NEED TO GO IN PERSON WITHIN 48 HOURS. EVEN IF YOU JUST WENT IN PERSON THE PRIOR MONTH TO DO YOUR RE-REGISTRATION, WHEN YOU CHANGE YOUR HOME, CAR, BASICALLY CHANGE YOUR CLOTHES, YOU NEED TO GO IN PERSON EVEN THOUGH ALL THIS CAN BE DONE ONLINE THEY WANT YOU TO TAKE TIME OFF WORK AND MAKE IT DIFFICULT SO YOU CAN BE VIOLATED. DOC, THE SHERIFF AND PROBATION DON’T MAKE MONEY ON COMPLIANT REGISTRANTS]

[FAC COMMENT 2: I TRIED CALLING THE DUVAL (JACKSONVILLE) REGISTRATION OFFICE AT THE NUMBER PROVIDED BY FDLE AND IT JUST RANG AND RANG…. https://offender.fdle.state.fl.us/offender/Documents/REREGISTRATIONLOCATIONS1.pdf]

Williams also said he didn’t have the money to update his address.

[FAC COMMENT: CAN SOMEONE IN DUVAL COUNTY TELL ME WHETHER YOU NEED TO PAY TO REGISTER? I GET THAT IT COSTS MONEY TO GET TO THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND POSSIBLY EVEN PARKING, BUT IS THERE A FEE TO PERFORM A REQUIRED TASK?]

I live in Jacksonville. Yes, if you don’t call early like around 8 or 9am you won’t get anyone. I don’t know of a fee to pay for anything like that. It doesn’t cost to register as far as I know. That story was on Fox 30 News. They are notorious for being idiots. I refuse to watch that news station because them and Channel 4 news always put these sensational stories out about SO’s. I watch First Coast News. They had a very good story about Miracle Village and don’t put out sensational stories about SO’s from what I’ve seen.

REALLY?!?! So in October of 2015 when they added all those items to the things you MUST appear IN PERSON to register they are collecting $25 every time you show up?

Does anyone want to challenge this?!?!

They have been charging $25.00 for about two years now. I know because I have the receipts to prove it. If you tell them you can’t pay, and they find out you can, that’s a felony. So I pay every time. As I mentioned in a previous post, they are doubling it to $50 once they make it law.
