The super-team of Mark Weinberg and Adele Nicholas filed a new complaint in the Eastern District of Wisconsin challenging the Villiage of Hartland’s moratorium on allowing persons required to register as a sexual offender. The named plaintiff is a 34 year old who landed on the registry in 2007. He’s currently living in his parents home and, despite the difficulty in finding affordable housing and open-minded landlords, he was able to arrange a place of his own closer to his Job. Except, the police chief won’t let him move, because in 2018, Hartland determined they already have too many persons forced to register in their Town and they won’t allow any more.

Wi. can use another win
All or most of Wi. cities sex offender legislation is based on the false “frightening and high” supreme court mistake. If We were organized here in Wi. we could have better fought these towns and cities as they dreamt up residency restriction legislation as they were passed. Thanks to Adele and friends they are being chipped back.
At this point a lot has to do with reduced property values. The legislation created a monetary monster. Who wants their property values reduced by someone moving in near your property? I do believe this could be used to our advantage. Just takes forethought, planning and money. I’m sure Will Allen has made a bit on this premise by now. Take over a little part of a new lakefront development in Hartland and watch the investors, developers and banks squirm. Buy low, move out sell high.
The scary thing is, if this poor kid wins and moves into that city, the A-Hole (Sorry if I offended any colons) chief will probably instruct his officers to make the registered citizen’s life a living Hell until he moves.
I had that happen when I lived inside the city limits. My probation officer would come one day. Then the city police would come. Then the County sheriff’s deputies would come another day. They rotated like that for 4 years of Hell until I moved.
Thank God Florida does not have a state police other than the FDLE who usually do not come out unless they have a legit reason. And the Florida Highway patrol only does traffic. Once I moved to another county I got left alone. I see a deputy once a year now for like 3 minutes.
I think I get left alone because there is so much crime where I live that they cannot spare deputies to harass people. It is so bad, When you call 9-11, you get a message saying ” YOU are caller # 30, please enjoy some music while you wait” LOL (Yes I am slightly exagerating but not by much) 75% of the time they tell you to make a report online. They will only come out now for major crimes in progress.
Keep them lawsuits a coming people, eventually America might finally understand just how punitive these laws truly are. No other american faces these kinds of unconstitutional laws besides us.
