Florida County to seek first known death penalty for sexual abuse of a minor.
In a first known case since Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a new law authorizing the death penalty for a sex offense, a Putnam County man will be facing the death penalty for alleged sexual abuse.
The accused, who had a prior (from 2010) sexual assault conviction, is being charged with the sexual assault of two minors in Putnam.

I am sorry if this sounds insensitive. But whatever happened to an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth?
What if we simply sentence the perpetrator to what the perpetrator did?
So the perp will be molested? Who will do it? That’s gross weird. Death penalty is good enough.
Jjj
Yes correct. If you harm a child you pay the consequences.
Imagine having nothing better in life to do then troll this site. I feel bad for the moderating staff. I see so many statements that are just uneducated and ignorant on every level. Iv been dealing with the registry for over 25 years. Iv heard it all. I truly hope you soulless trolls never have to spend a day in my shoes. I highly doubt you can handle it. Its not for the weak I can assure you. Its easy to talk trash in here. It a different thing in the real world. But I guess as long as you trolls keeping having your mom buy your hot pockets and pop tarts you’ll be in here charged up sharing your great nuggets of
wisdom.

“Many victims commit suicide or repeat what was done to them out of anger. So whether the perp kills them or not they are emotionally dead anyway.”
Maybe the person they’re seeking the death penalty for was abused as a child and is emotionally dead and repeating what was done to him out of anger. So he should be killed? And if/when his victims repeat what was done to them out of anger they should also be killed? And their victims, and their victims. Just kill them all for being abused, emotionally dead, and acting out of anger.
Finally there is a punishment for those who harmed our kids/ grandkids. This is what we were talking about (worse child predators} Noone in sound mind should ever oppose this punishment. This simply EVIL
thank you for your attention
Be merciful to others, and you will receive mercy. Forgive others, and God will forgive you.
interesting comment, but do you realize the possible ramifications of what you said? “Many victims commit suicide or repeat what was done to them out of anger. “.. I agree. It is a very valid statement BUT what do we do when the victim becomes the perpetrator? Is that possibly the case with this perpetrator we are discussing today? It is very likly.
The death penalty has never been anything but vengeance. It has never been about justice. The justice system is not infallible, and errors can and do occur, leading to wrongful convictions and even executions.
Numerous cases of individuals exonerated from death row highlight the tragic consequences of executing innocent people. Studies have consistently failed to demonstrate that the death penalty effectively deters crime, including murder.
Many opponents argue that other factors, such as socioeconomic conditions and the certainty of punishment, are more significant deterrents. The death penalty is a violation of fundamental human rights, particularly the right to life.
It is a cruel and unusual punishment, regardless of the method of execution.
Evidence suggests that the death penalty is disproportionately applied to individuals from marginalized communities, including racial minorities and those with lower socioeconomic status.
This raises serious concerns about fairness and equal application of the law.
The death penalty is often more expensive than life imprisonment, due to lengthy appeals processes, specialized legal representation, and heightened security measures.
These costs can strain public resources that could be used for other essential services.
The death penalty is final and cannot be reversed, even if new evidence emerges or a mistake is discovered.
This irreversibility makes it a particularly harsh and risky form of punishment.
Some argue that the death penalty can have a brutalizing effect on society, desensitizing people to violence and normalizing killing as a form of punishment.
This can undermine efforts to promote peace and non-violence.
IF found guilty, then this is going to SCOTUS for review in the end and the case they already decided that this punishment cannot be levied against a guilty person. Political grandstanding for another round of elections where the same governor family is involved due to term limits.
I recommend Death as the only alternative. When a person rapes molest a child, that person becomes spiritually dead for life. Life has been detoured to a negative predisposition that often counseling doesn’t help. Many victims commit suicide or repeat what was done to them out of anger. So whether the perp kills them or not they are emotionally dead anyway. So death is the appropriate here and should be Expeditiously and not years. But the Just Us System makes so much money off of jailing these turds, that killing them is a loss of revenue to the state at large.
The problem with that is most perpetrators of sexual crimes against a minor are family members or those known to the family. With the death penalty on the table it makes it much less likely for a crime to be reported. Also it makes it more likely that perpetrator will kill the victim.
Mr D.A
Precisely
I’m sorry, are you taking about the abuser or victim being dead for life? Or both?
Victim@rob
Then society failed the victim by not getting them treatment for the trauma that they suffered. Does not excuse the act that caused the trauma, but to let a victim suffer without help to recover and move forward is criminal as well.
