The operators of ClearMyCase.com have a new scam and they are going after the same victims – people required to register.
John Bordelon, the man behind ClearMyCase is now again using the registry as a marketing list to pitch FINDYOUAPLACE.COM. They charge an up-front $99 and claim to find housing for registrants. In a recording provided to FAC, John Bordelon claims to be a real estate broker who has been helping registrants find housing since 2014. According to the Texas Real Estate Commission, he has never held a license as a real estate salesperson or broker.

A copy of the mailing can be seen below.
What’s sad is that there is an actual need for the services as described in their mailing. And the fee is a lot less than first month’s rent. So it’s unfortunate if they’re not following through and/or have a history of defrauding registrants.
Jacob,
What is sad is that I actually answered this question previously and the response was deleted. The service we offer is real. I am a licensed realtor in the state of Texas. Realtor ID 0589977. I have been a realtor since 2008. Go to the TREC website put in the ID number and you will see. Next, Findyouaplace.com is a real service that works not only with felons required to register but people with evictions and bad credit as well as regular people. The reason we market to felons is because we know how difficult it is for felons to find a place due to public opinion. We charge a fee because it requires manpower to do the extensive searches we have to do to help our clients. Also, our services are guaranteed.
John, we will post your reply in the interest of allowing you to make a statement, but our opinion is that you and your businesses are set up to exploit a very vulnerable population that you have done a tremendous disservice to. Shame on you! We don’t need to say more. We’ve received MANY complaints that are self explanatory (see: https://floridaactioncommittee.org/warning-clearmycase-com-2/)
I hired your company in February 2019. So far I have been called twice asking me to buy a house. You do play on people vunerability. You haven’t found me a place to rent. I do not care about the 99 dollars. I believe you are taking advantage of people who has it difficult due to poor choices.
What’s sad is that there “is” a service like this and you all are doing everything you can to destroy it. You have no grounds upon which you base your claims. You state that it’s your opinions, but if you remember like you were taught in school, a fact is statement that can be proven or disproven. An opinion is a statement that can neither be proven nor disproven. You all a publishing false facts, and defending it as an opinion. The fact is the service is real and real things are happening. You will see in time.
No registered sex offender is living in a place that FindYouAPlace arranged for them. Not one.
You value facts over opinions. Right? So do I. We have that in common. And I have just given you a fact.
Prove me wrong. Please. I want there to be a legitimate service like this. We all do.
I spent a lot of time in federal prison with guys like this. What they are doing violates the laws that protect consumers against wire fraud, mail fraud, etc. Since the feds go after other “business men” who commit such crimes, they should also put these scammers in federal time out for a few years.
Trec website has a complaints from and this will provide backing for criminal charges and civil lawsuits
Interestingly enough, they are mailing letters as part of their fraud scheme. This would become FBI territory.
On the bottom of the letter, they include LLC in the name. However upon digging for an LLC matching the name, there is none in the State of Texas. If they are operating business without a legal filing, they can end up in a lot of hot water for fraud and yes, jail time.
I really hope that registered persons are not actually falling for this scam. It bugs me that they are willing to throw money at a scammer, but not invest in legal defense funds controlled by the members of the vetted and well established organizations.
Nicholas,
Yes the letter does state LLC and I must say that it is an error that we will address immediately. We have however submitted an application for LLC status to the Secretary of State of Texas and are awaiting our certificate.
