Book’s ‘Childlike Sex Doll’ Bill advances

I just had to laugh at the debate over this stupid bill that took place in the Florida legislature yesterday. To back up; Senator Lauren Book whose life mission is to perpetuate panic and fear over anything sexual in order to stoke funding for her charity, has proposed a bill to ban ‘childlike sex dolls’. It would be illegal to own, borrow, lend one out, etc…

You have to wonder how they are going to make a determination on what’s ‘child like’. Would the next phase of this bill require that sex dolls come with birth certificates, like a Cabbage Patch Kid? Are they going to train a forensic expert to determine whether the doll is 14? Will there be strict liability or will ‘but officer, the packaging said she was 19’ be a defense? Will the age of consent be a factor on determining whether 16 or 18 are the threshold?

If you thought these considerations on ‘childlike sex dolls’ are laughable, wait until you hear the arguments from actual politicians on the topic of ‘childlike sex dolls’:

  • Sen. Lauren Book: “It’s like tempting an addict with their drug of choice, These kids deserve being protected.”

Really Lauren? These are blobs of plastic. Maybe, as Therapist Richard Siegel argued yesterday, the dolls enable someone to get their fix and thereby protect REAL kids?

  • Congressman Dan Donovan,”The dolls and robots not only lead to rape, but they make rape easier by teaching the rapist about how to overcome resistance and subdue the victim,”

Seriously? What’s wrong with you, Dan? What goes through your mind to come up with these things? The same can be said of CPR dummies.

We’re not going to waste our effort on doing a call to action for this bill. We don’t really care if it passes because the feedback we’ve gotten is that it’s simply laughable and we all can’t wait to watch the law play out!

For the sake of argument, if someone purchases such a doll before this bill becomes law (and it will), is that person in violation? If so, the law would be retroactive, thus, theoretically, illegal. But as we all know, when it comes to “sex offenders,” no law is illegal.

You are referring to someone who, when contacted by a reporter, simply commented, “I would support banning those ’cause children aren’t sex toys.”

Is that correct, or am I missing the full story?

Because I find it unnecessary to be engaging in personally attacking and name-calling against a defenseless registrant on this forum. The man simply expressed an opinion.

Were I the moderator of this forum, I would not have posted that garbage.

Nothing personal, I am just blowing off steam here.

What did WHO offer him under the table, in exchange for doing what, exactly?

Sorry to be cranky about this, Mary, but I am seeing a lot of FAC posters beating up on a registrant for doing nothing more than making a comment when a reporter called.

Y’all are acting like he lobbied the legislature to hurt registrants rather than express a casual opinion about some rather silly legislation for which reasonable people could go either way and about which FAC takes a neutral position.

If FAC is going to turn this registrant into an enemy for expressing an opinion, then count me on his side as one of his defenders (regardless of my own view of this silly legislation).

I google this guy up Craig Crenshaw and I wonder what he thinks sucking up to this Bill gonna do for him I agree with Matt. This fellow register
citizen sucking up to the politicans’ ass isn’t helping anyone. He comes out of the wood-works like he something special!
I rather see someone get off on a plastic bag then do it to a child. Shout Out to Craig go back to your rock where you slidden from!

Craig Crenshaw has not done anything associated with this bill or its sponsors, other than state an opinion when a reporter called. I can assure you that his commenting had no impact whatsoever on the viability of the legislation or on the lives of his fellow registrants.

So, what’s the age of consent for the dolls? I’m sorry officer, she looked 17!

I’m not too surprised this is coming out of Florida. I’ve long thought of Florida as in competition with other states to have the largest percentage of their citizens become felons.

You’d better outlaw toy guns while you’re at it.

Candy cigarettes, if they still exist. Bicycles..

Anything that is potentially harmful to kids.

“Dolls teach the rapist.” Really?? IS Dan Donovan really that stupid?

The old generation of offenders that sexualized children, are what teaches the new generation to rape & molest. IF he cant even acknowledge that cycle, how can legislation possibly help break it?

I cannot believe that Ron Book wasn’t watching Lauren when she was being abused… Hard for me to understand how a rich man doesn’t have camera’s in use…. Seems strange he believes that because of his inadaquacies he and his daughter are punishing every other felon… Just saying, he was the dad….
